Now Add Social Media Links To Google Business Profiles

  • Google now lets businesses add social media links to their Business Profiles.
  • Businesses can add one link per platform.
  • This helps small businesses be more visible across Google’s products.

Google has now introduced a vital feature for businesses that will help them elevate their reach. The new feature now allows businesses to add social media links to their Google Business Profiles, helping companies improve visibility across Google products. This enables companies to showcase their social media presence alongside other information in Google Search and Maps.

When potential customers search for your organisation on Google, you want them to see the best possible results on page one. Having social media links accessible on their Google Business Profile can provide customers with more ways to connect, acquire information, and resolve issues.

New Feature Alert

Google has a dedicated support page for this particular new feature. The page gives out a detailed explanation of how businesses can now manage which social media links are displayed to customers on their Business Profile. They can add one link per social media platform. The supported platforms include Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube. This feature is currently available for select regions only and may not be available for all businesses as of now.

How To Use

A business can add one link per social media site. For example, you can add one Facebook and one YouTube link to your Business Profile. The process is quite simple, all it takes is a few clicks.

  1. The first step for a business is to access its profile, so go to your Business Profile and click “Edit profile.”
  2. Then navigate to “Business information” and then click on “Contact.”
  3. Look for the “Social profiles” option and then choose the social media platform you want to link.
  4. Now, add the web address for your chosen platform and you’re done!
  5. Don’t forget to hit “Save.”

Editing or removing the social media link also has a similar process:

  • To edit a link, businesses must update the web address field for the designated social media link.
  • To remove a link, click on the “Trash” icon next to the social media profile that needs to be deleted.

They have offered a guide for businesses with regard to the format they need to follow basis each social media platform:

Although sometimes, Google adds social media links to eligible Business Profiles automatically. To modify these auto-added links, businesses can add a new link for the same social media platform following the above-mentioned steps.

How This Benefits Businesses

Okay, picture this – your customers are searching for or about your business on Google and wish to know more than the basic details provided on the platform. What do they do? Switch to various social media sites and scroll around to look up your business? This is the problem that the tech giant aims to solve with this new feature. Your customers can now find your social media links right alongside your essential information. No more jumping between platforms to find your Instagram, Facebook, or other social media accounts. This new feature lets you showcase your social media presence on your Google Business Profile itself, giving your guests more ways to interact, get information and clear their doubts.

Consumers today expect to find social media and website links alongside local search results. The ability to add these links provides another way for local business owners to optimise their presence across Google’s ecosystem. Small to medium-sized businesses can now keep up with chains in providing that seamless experience. While businesses can add the same social media link to multiple Business Profiles, they cannot add various links from the same platform to a single profile. This feature can be managed per business on Search or Maps or via the API to manage multiple locations simultaneously.

Google doesn’t provide performance metrics such as click rates for these social media links yet. Maybe soon, in the near future? Let’s wait and watch.
