PUBG (Players Unknown Battlegrounds) is all set to return to India under the revised name BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA.
On 6th May,2021 KRAFTON, the South Korean video game developer, announced the reveal of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA. Earlier the rights of the game were reserved with Tencent, a Chinese company. But in September 2020, the game was banned by the Indian Government along with 118 other Chinese apps including Tiktok and CamScanner owing to a prolonged border standoff between India and China.
Soon after the ban news about PUBG’s return began surfacing but without any concrete proof. An Indian gaming company nCORE Games even announced FAU-G: Fearless and United Guards (a made in India war game) which was then aimed to be the replacement of PUBG. The game was officially released on 26th January,2021 and has since then received unsatisfactory reviews from its users who continue to root for PUBG.
As per KRAFTON, “the game will offer a world class AAA multiplayer gaming experience on mobile. BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA will release with exclusive in-game events like outfits and features and will have its own esports ecosystem with tournaments and leagues. The game will launch as a free-to-play experience on mobile devices.”
Although free to play, KRAFTON on its website has informed that the game will have a period of pre-registration before the launch and will be available to play only in India. KRAFTON even released a logo reveal video on BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA’s YouTube page marking the game’s official re-entry into the Indian gaming space.
The news of re-release has resulted in a wave of nationwide excitement. Tech youtubers, Technical Guruji and Tech Burner even made a video expressing their excitement for the game’s release.
The pre-registrations of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA will go live on 18th May,2021 on Google Play store.
This news has undeniably excited Indian gaming fans who just cannot wait to step back into the battleground and redeem the famous “Chicken Dinner!”
