The BJP-led government in Goa has recently launched a groundbreaking initiative, leveraging the influence of social media influencers to promote government schemes, tourism, and policies. In a bid to connect with the masses through the most influential platforms of today, the state has introduced a comprehensive policy for empanelling local social media influencers.
Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the introduction of an empanelment portal, inviting local social media influencers to actively participate in the promotion of government initiatives. The empanelment process involves influencers who have been domiciled in the state for at least 15 years, providing a unique opportunity for the community to contribute to Goa’s image and development.
Acknowledging the unparalleled reach and impact of social media, Chief Minister Sawant emphasised the strategic decision to utilise social media influencers for promotional activities. The government recognises social media as a potent influencing platform and seeks to harness this power to effectively communicate with the public.
To ensure the quality and relevance of content, the government has implemented a vetting process. Content created by empanelled social media influencers will be subject to review by an official team before receiving approval for production. This measure aims to maintain the integrity of the information being disseminated through the influencers’ channels.
The introduction of the empanelment portal positions Goa as the second state in the nation to implement such a comprehensive policy, following in the footsteps of Rajasthan. This pioneering move signifies a commitment by the Goa government to adapt to the evolving landscape of communication and information dissemination.
Chief Minister Sawant encouraged local social media enthusiasts to register on the portal and become integral members of the Government’s promotional team. This inclusive approach seeks to involve the community in shaping the narrative surrounding Goa’s development and showcasing all that this natural beauty has to offer.
Under the flagship campaign of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa,’ the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) aims to strategically engage social media influencers for promotional activities. The goal is to generate maximum awareness of government initiatives, services, and schemes by leveraging the influencers’ broad reach through their social media handles.
The launch of the empanelment portal represents a forward-thinking approach by the government, recognising the potential of social media influencers as partners in promoting the state’s image and developmental endeavours. By actively involving local influencers, the government seeks to create a collaborative and dynamic environment for the effective dissemination of information and the promotion of Goa on the digital stage.
