In the ever-changing world of fashion, there is one individual who is making a splash with his unique blend of humor and reliability. Meet Sufi Motiwala, the fashion commentator with a knack for cracking jokes and sharing his thoughts on the outfits of creators and celebs.
Sufi, known for his own unique sense of style and hilarious commentary, has become a social media sensation, especially on Instagram. With his sharp wit and a good eye for fashion, he brings a fresh and entertaining perspective to the looks we see on the ‘gram.
One aspect that immediately struck me when I first came across Sufi Motiwala’s profile was his uncanny resemblance to the iconic character “Poo” from the Bollywood film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.” This humorous connection brought back a flood of laughter and nostalgia for a fan of the film like me.
The one fashion trend I’m looking out for is Barbiecore 2.0 for females and structured suits and blazers for men, courtesy of Oppenheimer. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is going to set ablaze the already existing Barbie trend on fire, and with the supporting Versace collection, I’m sure it’s going to be the one trend to look out for.
I think quiet luxury is also yet to reach its highest potential. Many brands are going to go more simple and toned down with the collections coming ahead, and I feel there’s already a market for simple tailored garments. Hence, these two trends are going to be in uproar throughout 2023.
Some designers I really enjoy watching are Dhruv Kapoor because of his unique perspective on ready-to-wear. Viktor and Rolf are another favorite of mine for their otherworldly creations and high-luxury fashion that never fails to captivate. I am also enjoying Rahul Mishra and Vaishali studios for their respective collections, as they bring a unique twist to our Indian fashion market.
The one international brand I would also highly recommend looking at, even though they have been in the business for years, is Dries Van Noten. Their designs are mind-blowing, and their presentations are even better.
I don’t believe there’s anything that you necessarily “need” in your closet. While there are essential items that can be versatile, it’s not a requirement. I often come across people saying you need black pants or black shoes, but the truth is, you can create looks without them.
However, one thing I highly recommend having in your closet is clothes that fit you well. Clothes that are true to your size can make a significant difference in how you look and feel.
Additionally, having a steamer to avoid wrinkles can also be beneficial. By taking care of these two aspects, you’ll be good to go and rock your style confidently.
I believe that nowadays, every trend seems to originate from social media. Gone are the days when magazines or respected publications were the main trendsetters. Even they have succumbed to the influence of social media. If a relevant influencer wears something, you can expect to see ten other influencers following suit. The audience, who is well-versed with all eleven of them, seeks out those clothes or similar versions, creating a trend.
However, I find that these trends tend to be short-lived. The trends that truly endure are those created by celebrities or wildly successful movies/series. These have a lasting impact on the viewer’s mind, far beyond the fleeting moments of a 15-second reel.
Sufi Motiwala’s Instagram profile is a treasure trove of style inspiration and comedic relief. From capturing the glitz and glamour of red-carpet events to sharing his own off-duty fashion moments, he offers a diverse range of content that appeals to a wide audience.
What sets him apart is his incredible ability to stay in tune with the ever-changing landscape of the fashion world. Whether he’s mingling with A-list celebrities at star-studded events like Cannes or staying up-to-date with the latest trends showcased at international fashion weeks, Sufi is always one step ahead.
However, his sense of humor doesn’t stop there. He fearlessly dives into the domain of “nepo babies” as well, poking fun at the fashion choices of star kids with his comedic commentary. With a light-hearted and playful approach, he adds an element of fun to the sometimes intense and over-discussed topic of celebrity style.
So, if you’re looking for a good laugh and some fashion insights, make sure to check out Sufi Motiwala. His hilarious take on fashion will leave you rolling on the floor laughing, while his stylish looks will give you some serious outfit inspiration.
