Andre Braugher is an accomplished and versatile American actor known for his work in television and films.
Born in Chicago on July 1, 1962, he went to St. Ignatius College Prep for high school and then got a scholarship to Stanford University, graduating with a BA in theatre in 1984.
His first film role was in 1989's Glory, where he portrayed Thomas Searles, a free Black man who joined the first black regiment.
After his break through, he worked across film notable films such as "City of Angels," and starring in TV shows like "Hack," and "The Good Fight."
In 1998, he won a lead actor Emmy for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on 'Homicide: Life on Street'.
Ami Brabson, Braugher's wife, was also featured along with him in 'Homicide: Life on the Street'.
Despite his dramatic background, he managed to pull a comic role as Captain Raymond Holt on the show called "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" debuted on Fox in 2013, ran for 5 seasons, got canceled in 2018, and was picked up by NBC for 3 more seasons until it ended in 2021.
He was nominated four times for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Captain Holt in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
