Dakota Johnson steps into the superhero world in her first appearance as 'Madame Web.' Excitement builds as she embarks on this new adventure.
The film is said to be an origin story for Madame Web, a mutant with precognitive abilities and psychic powers, based on the Marvel Comics character.
Sony Pictures is making this movie that is not part of the MCU. However, some people think it could be part of a bigger Spider-Man multiverse.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson, the movie stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Emma Roberts.
The movie opens with a bizarre & humorous scene, grabbing the attention of the audience.
The main character develops the ability to see the future and later learns how to project their spirit out of their body, but the origin & reasons remain unclear.
Ezekiel Sims, the villain, sees Cassie chasing him in his visions, but their motives are unclear. He employs outdated technology to trace them through a mysterious NSA connection.
After some time, the possibility of a silly, enjoyable movie diminishes and is replaced by typical, dark CGI visuals and poorly edited action scenes.
Instead of embracing its quirkiness, "Madame Web" becomes a typical, uninspired superhero movie with unclear plot-lines, according to the US audience.
"Not a disaster, but a low-stakes superhero origin story with a fun Dakota Johnson performance but suffers from visual chaos and clunky exposition," says Roger Ebert.
Madame Web released in different parts of the world, including the US, on February 14, but it is set to release on February 16, 2024, in India.
