Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an Indian IT giant, is embroiled in a major scandal involving senior executives accepting bribes during the recruitment process.
The executives in question were responsible for hiring critical personnel and have been accused of accepting commissions from staffing firms.
A whistleblower reported the global head of TCS's resource management group, E.S. Chakravarthy, for accepting these bribes.
TCS swiftly launched an investigation led by their chief information security officer.
Following the investigation, 4 executives involved in the scandal were terminated, 3 staffing firms were blacklisted, and the head of recruitment was placed on leave.
Estimates suggest that the implicated individuals may have earned commissions totalling at least Rs 100 crore.
TCS has not disclosed the names of the blacklisted staffing firms.
The scandal has shocked the senior leadership and raised concerns about the effectiveness of existing safeguards within the company.
Prompt action is expected from the government to address the issue, protect workers' rights, and restore trust in the sector.
