Chalchitra Originals is a new beginning for Mumbai-based content creators Vaibhav and Sorabh Munjal, better known for their YouTube channel Chalchitra Talks. They have now formally entered the world of feature film productions with their film Scenes from a Situationship, a full-length film that premiered for free on their brand-new YouTube channel, Chalchitra Originals, on 24th of December 2025. This is a strong indication of a new dawn in the distribution of full-length content by independent content creators in India.

It is directed by Vaibhav Munjal and delves into the complexities that form today’s relations, simultaneously experimenting with a distribution mechanism, which is completely controlled by the creator.

Chalchitra Originals: Scenes from a Situantionship

Scenes from a Situationship is essentially about how two major characters, Udit and Tanisha, develop and alter their relationship. The story examines the confusion of a “situationship,” which is a label and a phenomenon increasingly being described and defined these days to relate to a relationship stage somewhere between a friendship and a committed relationship. Both of them are deeply involved and invested when it comes to their emotions, but their needs and requirements are quite different.

Unlike many films that might have highlighted the dramatic aspects of the topic, this feature chooses to handle the subject matter in a more down-to-earth and conversational manner, which reflects reality. The content fits well into its target audience, which is viewers who have been following the channel for its informative discussions on films and culture.

Why Chalchitra Originals Preferred The Usage Of YouTube?

One of the key features of this project is its release. Scenes from a Situationship, courtesy of Chalchitra Originals, is available to stream absolutely free of cost on YouTube. There is no paid membership, no subscription, or restricted theatrical screening.

This is reflective of a larger shift in which creators are increasingly looking at YouTube as far more than a short-form content platform. With better tools for monetization, long-form audience behavior, and an enormous pre-existing audience, YouTube is emerging as a strong alternative for independent films who may not necessarily conform to the main commercial narrative.

By opting for YouTube, Chalchitra Originals is able to gain immediate accessibility, in addition to maintaining the element of creative control, which are some aspects that are typically waived in conventional

A Community-Driven Premiere

The first screening of Scenes from a Situationship occurred at a premier event in Mumbai. The event involved a host of filmmakers, creators, and people from the film industry of the locality, and the project got a premiere of sorts without a digital first strategy being compromised. The premier received a good response, and this justified the themes and unconventional strategy of the project.

What It All Means To The Creator Economy

Chalchitra Originals: Scenes from a Situantionship

Chalchitra Originals enters the space at a time when the Indian creative mind is venturing into the world of longer-form storytelling, film, and series creation. With audiences becoming more and more receptive to consuming longer-form content online, YouTube is becoming a serious consideration for cinematic storytelling.

With the free feature film, Chalchitra Originals is also challenging the assumption that quality content cannot be had without paying a dollar. Rather, the emphasis will be on the reach and the sustainability of the creator or brand through engagement.

I’ve been passionately chronicling the worlds of entertainment and lifestyle for more than 10 years, which means I've spent roughly 3,650 days shuffling between drama and crippling deadlines (and usually, the deadlines win). There’s truly not a day I can imagine doing anything else. I just really love having an excuse to call reading celebrity/creator happenings "research."
