The tech world is buzzing with the news of Samsung Galaxy’s next marvel to hit the market. Rumours are rife that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will be launched in January 2024. And it is believed to be an “AI Phone.” This time Samsung isn’t relying just on the classics. The brave new world of AI-first smartphones — an area defined by the Google Pixel 8 Pro — will be a massive part of the Galaxy S24 family.
According to reports, Samsung’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S24 series will come incorporated with ‘advanced AI functionalities.’ The series shall comprise of three smartphones – Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra . Furthermore, a report from SamMobile suggests that the South Korean smartphone maker will also launch the Galaxy AI experience alongside the global launch of the Galaxy S24, bringing on-device AI to Samsung’s smartphones.
In a statement while announcing, Galaxy AI last month, Samsung said, “Galaxy AI is a comprehensive mobile AI experience, powered by both on-device AI developed at Samsung and cloud-based AI enabled by our open collaborations with like-minded industry leaders. It will transform your everyday mobile experience with the peace of mind you count on from Galaxy security and privacy.”
The reports by GalaxyClub state that the South Korea-based tech giant has applied for multiple artificial intelligence (AI)-related trademarks in the United Kingdom and Europe. These trademarks include ‘AI Phone’ and ‘AI Smartphone,’ leading to speculations that the series will be marketed as an ‘AI Phone.’ Samsung has already revealed Samsung Gauss, its AI building blocks that will appear inside the hardware, along with some potential functions.
Out of Samsung’s filing for multiple trademarks, the two of interest are “AI Smartphone” and “AI Phone” in both the EU and the UK. While these terms could seem generic and not eligible for trademarking, yet Samsung’s punt to bring them to South Korea clearly indicates that it sees the Galaxy S24 as an AI Smartphone, as well as one specifically designed for a stylus.
Additionally, the company is said to have registered trademarks for other product categories, such as augmented reality (AR) glasses and smart rings. For AR products, it is reportedly trying to secure names such as ‘Magic Pixel,’ ‘Flex Magic,’ and ‘Flex Magic Pixel.’
While the Samsung Galaxy Note series came to an end in 2020, one of its most innovative functions found a new home with the Samsung Galaxy S flagships. Not only is Samsung carrying on that tradition with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but the Ultra offers a feature that will enhance this classic technology: the S-Pen.
With a flat screen, the S-Pen will happily reach out to the edges, and the interface will be far more comfortable to use. No more will the stylus slip away over the edge of the screen. If you want to select, highlight, or draw at the edges of the screen, the Ultra makes your smartphone world a little easier. This is before you consider the new hardware that will be packed into 2024’s S-Pen, which has already cleared certification in a number of territories — and in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s digitizer that reacts to stylus inputs.
Few other manufacturers offer the synergy between these two elements in their high-end handsets. It’s more noticeable in the tablet space, but if you’re looking for a stylus to go with your flagship phone, it will be very hard to look beyond Samsung’s latest package.
The smartphone is anticipated to feature several upgrades and adjustments in terms of processor, camera capabilities, additional features, and more. Expected to be announced at the “Galaxy Unpacked” event on January 17, 2023 next year, the handsets could get ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy’ as the processing unit; in global markets, on the other hand, the devices could be equipped with the in-house Exynos processor.
The Galaxy AI experience will help bring a host of features to Samsung devices, including AI Live Translate, which allows users to get a real-time transcript of a call while talking to someone. Also, the lineup could feature Titanium frames instead of the current aluminium ones. Further, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to be Samsung’s maiden ‘Generative AI’ phone, and it could have a new EV battery technology for an improved battery life.
Details on the new display come from the latest leaked photos of the Galaxy S24 Ultra on X by tipster David Martin. These showcase a number of S24 Ultra highlights, including the lack of an isolating camera island for the five lenses, the always-useful volume and power buttons on the right-hand edge and, of course, the flat screen.
Sometimes, the smallest design changes can have the biggest impact. Let’s see how true do these speculations about the Samsung Galaxy S24 series turn out to be.
