Amazon India announced the fourth anniversary of Alexa in India. In the last 4 years, millions of Indian customers have used the Alexa voice service in English, Hindi, and Hinglish on the Echo range of devices. Additionally on Fire TV, Amazon shopping app for Android, and Alexa built-in devices by other brands. With almost 50% of customers from non-metro cities, the number of requests to Alexa in 2021 increased by 68% since the previous year.
As #AlexaTurns4 in India, Amazon celebrates its anniversary in India by showcasing a video story that depicts how Alexa is a perfect companion, from a chef, an encyclopedia, to a quiz host, Alexa has something for every family member.
As a part of the campaign, Amazon worked with influencers to publish video content about how Alexa has kept them engaged in these last few years. These include Ayush Mehra (A fun thing to try with Alexa and productivity), RJ Karishma (Alexa’s anniversary and music), Sameera Reddy (Amitji, jokes, and productivity), Sonal Devraj (music and home entertainment-valentine’s day).
To add on, more popular names from the digital world like Tech Boss (Music, fun things to try, and productivity), Neel (smart home and productivity), Zoha Sanofer (productivity and fun things to try), and Hamid Barkzi (Productivity, Amitji, and Smart home) joined in.
In 2021, Alexa entertained customers by playing more than 21.6L songs every day, genres such as kids, devotional and regional language were extremely prominent in the top 20 songs. From sports, movie dialogues, and word definitions to tough math problems, weather, and the latest stock market updates, customers quizzed Alexa with around 1.7L questions every day.
During March-April’21, customers asked 11,500 questions every day about COVID, health, and wellness-related topics. Customers also loved starting and concluding their days with Alexa, they wished “Alexa, good morning” and “Alexa, good night” 11,520 times every day.
