IMDb‘s free streaming service aka IMDB TV is now a fully functional dedicated app on Android and iOS devices. The app is an ad supported service which is currently available only in the US. The service was first launched in January 2019 for free under the name “Freedive” but it was then renamed later to “IMDb TV.”
Internet Movie Database or more popularly known as IMDb is an online database of information related to films, television programs, home videos, video games, and streaming content online. The database includes cast, production crew, personal biographies, plot summaries, trivia, ratings, and fan and critical reviews. Originally IMDb was a fan-operated website until it became a subsidiary of Amazon and is now operated by IMDb.com
IMDb TV features movies and TV shows like “Chicago Fire“, “All in the Family“, “Mad Men“, “Malcolm in the Middle“, “The Wolf of Wall Street“, and “How to Train Your Dragon.” It also features Amazon originals like “Alex Rider”, “Moment of Truth”, and “Top Class: The Life and Times of the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers.”
The expansion of video on demand streaming service by Amazon is not new as recently it acquired MGM for $8.45 Billion! Furthermore it even launched Amazon MiniTV in India which is another free video streaming service. (Click here to know more about mini TV and Amazon acquiring MGM).
The IMDb TV app is developed by Amazon Mobile LLC and is available on both Google Play Store and App Store but only for people in the US.
