Amazon announced the launch of Amazon’s new hair salon in Spitalfields, London on April 20, 2021. This is going to be an unique experience for the customers because of the involvement of the latest technology and Augmented Reality (AR). Yes, you read that right. As per Amazon Blog, “Amazon Salon will trial the latest industry technology, from augmented reality (AR) hair consultations to point-and-learn technology.”

Owner of Neville Hair & Beauty Salon, Elena Lavagni, and her team of expert stylists will be looking after the hair care and styling services at Amazon. As elaborated by John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon, in Amazon Blog, “We have designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry.” He further states, “We want this unique venue to bring us one step closer to customers, and it will be a place where we can collaborate with the industry and test new technologies.”
Let’s get to know the team as Amazon Salon (@amazonsalonuk) introduced to us! Here’s Elena and she says, “Our creative team of stylists, whose flair for hair is as intrinsic as their love for technology, will put the client at the heart of everything they do. I feel proud to use our 40 years’ experience in the industry to help bring this salon to life.”
The next one is Kelly! “Creative director Kelly is a hair colour specialist, with a love for fashion colours and sun kissed tones. Kelly has two decades of industry knowledge and expertise behind her. Her soft personable approach makes her reassuring to anyone looking to undergo a big style transformation.”
Have you noticed Kareem? “Kareem is the go to stylist for hair treatments and scalp concerns. His vast knowledge of hair textures means he can deliver the perfect keratin treatment and help you come up with a haircare regimen that will boost hair health.”
Here’s Gokhan for you all! “Gokhan is a stylist with a penchant for braiding. His Turkish heritage gives him a strong knowledge and understanding of thick coarse hair and can deliver exceptionally long-lasting blow-dries.”
Finally, it’s Nadia! “Nadia has over 20 years’ experience and is now a senior stylist. Nadia has taught her love of the craft at top hair academies for many years. In her free time, she likes to spend quality time with her daughter.”

In their retrospect, “Before deciding on a new look, customers can discuss with their stylist what they would like to achieve and experiment with different hair colours using the augmented reality colour bar. Customers can also learn about products using interactive shopping displays. Customers can simply point at the product they are interested in on a display shelf and the relevant information, including brand videos and educational content, will appear on a display screen. The salon will also offer customers the latest hair styling technology treatments such as hot scissors, hair steaming and more.”
As per Amazon Blog,” The salon is the latest initiative designed to support the professional beauty industry and follows the launch of the Amazon Professional Beauty Store on Amazon.co.uk.” They also stated that the health and safety of customers, stylists, and employees are of utmost importance. To create a safe environment, Amazon is providing free masks, sanitiser, and temperature checks. Even the separation screens are divided for each styling station. With so many advantages and good hygiene strategies, who doesn’t want to visit the salon? Unfortunately, there are no further plans to open another salon in any location by Amazon for now.
