India’s one of the most popular YouTubers, Bhuvan Bam has successfully transitioned into an impressive actor, earning awards from industry experts like Anurag Kashyap. In a recent interview, Anurag praised Bhuvan, calling him an exceptional actor, distinguishing him from other influencers. However, Kashyap maintains that “influencers can’t act.“
YouTuber and digital creator, Janice Sequeira, hosted an interview with ace filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently. They spoke about the Indian film industry, the movies Bollywood is making currently, influencers turning actors, and much more. At one point in the interview, Janice asked Kashyap “Who is that one influencer who is also a good actor?” to which Anurag replied, “Bhuvan Bam. He is a good actor.“
Reflecting on this recognition, BB shared, “In an old vlog on my channel, I mentioned that if two people in my life appreciate me, one of them being Anurag Kashyap, my life would be fulfilled. Hearing this from him now is incredibly encouraging.“
Addressing the labels influencers face, Bhuvan said, “These assumptions exist, and I don’t blame anyone because such a transition was unprecedented. There is a belief that actors from one side can act, while influencers cannot. It will take time for this perception to change. With art, it’s hard to please everyone, and social media backgrounds often lead to heavier judgment. Proving yourself is a constant challenge, but I relish the chance to change people’s minds.“
BB also acknowledges the power and paradox of social media, saying, “Social media actually runs the world for me. In today’s time, even if it goes down for two-three hours, hahakar mach jata hai har jagah. Not only is it driving every country’s economy, but there are so many people like me who have got hope and their careers from social media.”
However, he also points out the duplicity of it. “There is also a lot of fakeness on it. It has turned into a medium to where we try to find colour in our black-and-white life through it, just so that we can show that our life is different,” added the YouTuber.
Besides this paradox, BB Ki Vines Production has dropped a bomb with the Taaza Khabar Season 2 trailer. The trailer reveals the story revolves around the death of Vasant Gawde, a character aced by Bhuvan Bam, who is still alive. But who and why would someone leak this fake news about his death? We are anxious too! The release date is yet to be announced.
Anurag Kashyap, we agree with you, Bhuvan is a star for sure! His journey from YouTuber to acclaimed actor challenges breaking influencer stereotypes. His story shows that with talent and hustle, influencers can totally rock the entertainment industry. He’s a major inspiration for anyone looking to bridge the gap between social media and traditional fame.
