Co-Founder of BFunk, Shivani Bhagwan is a Dancer, Choreographer, and Actress. On Instagram, she has 181K followers. Born on April 10, 1992, she hails from Detroit, Michigan. From the tender age of 13, she spent her early years acting in plays and local short films. She pursued Bachelors in Human Biology from Michigan State University. Also, she’s considered to be the only freshman to create an Indian dance team in that college, the Michigan State Raas Team. Next, she became its captain and led the team to its glory!
After graduation, she shifted to LA to pursue her career in acting and dancing. TJ Maxx’s ‘Real Inspiration from Real Women’ released on March 27, 2016, was her first national TV commercial. She also played the character of Yasmin in ‘Aarzu-E-Mann’, an Urdu drama that aired in Pakistan in 2017.
Along with Shivani, Chaya Kumar is the Co-Founder of BFunk. She’s a Choreographer, Dancer, Creative Director, and an Artist. Born on September 4, 1991, she is from the US. Her current fanbase on Instagram is 141K followers.
BFunk’s first dance video on YouTube was on Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’ remixed by Desi Frenzy feat. Diljit Dosanjh. Released on September 13, 2016, it went viral all over the world. That was the start of BFunk’s journey! Currently, it has over 1 million views and 11K likes.
BFunk has collaborated with some great celebrities and famous figures like Tesher, Shahrukh Khan, Honey Singh, DJ Upside Down, Bapi Lahiri, Mudassar Khan, TJ Lewis, and so on. They have also received co-signs from Diljit Dosanjh, Arjun Kapoor, Raja Kumari, Geeta Kapoor, and Tricia Miranda.

Partnering with Red Bull, BFunk brought Bapi Lahiri and performed BollyFunk on ‘Ooh La La’. The video was released on October 26, 2017, and gained over 3.9 million views with 36K likes.
They also worked with Amrit Maan and Avex Dhillon in Gaana Exclusives and Crown Records’ ‘Pariyan Toh Sohni’, released on July 27, 2018.
Chaya has directed Jaz Dhami’s ‘Aitvaar’ released on July 9, 2018. It was nominated in the Music Video Category at the South Asian Film Fest of America. Can you guess the producer? Well, it was none other than Shivani!
Previously, Chaya had also directed ‘Urban Desi Musical’ featuring Mickey Singh.
The dancing duo had also starred in Honey Singh’s ‘Gur Nalo Ishq Mitha’ released on July 24, 2019.

Let’s groove on ‘Radha’ from ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’! This collaboration was with Sony Music India and Red Chillies Entertainment, in which the contest winner got to meet Shahrukh Khan!
They have judged quite a few shows like London’s Battle of Bollywood and Dance USA Dance. Due to invitations from shows and events, they had met Maniesh Paul, Arjun Coomaraswamy, Shilpa Shetty, and more.
In August 2018, BFunk embarked on their first-ever North American Tour, #WeFunk. Presented by Saavn (currently JioSaavn) and Artist Originals, they covered a total of 18 cities and held workshops. Powered by Bollyshake, the other sponsors were Dil Mil, Akash Ahuja, and Frontier Heritage. Tickets were sold by Eventbrite. Also, Akash created exclusive music for the tour too.
The pair was even mentioned in Forbes in 2018!
BFunk’s unique efforts in representing South Asian dance made them nominated in YouTube streamy awards 2020!
That’s not all. In August 2020, they got featured on the homepage of Nike’s app!
On May 16, 2020, BFunk organised its first-ever digital live stream.
In November 2019, they received the YouTube gold play button.
In association with Toyota, they conducted a Funk Fair on September 14, 2019.
Also, Shivani and Chaya shared the stage with Raja Kumari, Mickey Singh, and Jaz Dhami in 5xFest held in July 2019.
They also appeared in Toyota’s commercial in 2019.
For the first time in history, South Asian dance was showcased by them on TMILLY TV in 2019.
In 2018, BFunk stated that they “teamed up with #YoutubeGiving to spread awareness and raise $ for children’s health, child safety & education, mental health, humanitarian aid, and animals in need.” Regarding the film, they wrote in the caption, “The film ‘THE PRICE OF FREE’ shows us a glimpse into Kailash Satyarthi’s journey to end child slavery.”
Once again, for the first time, South Asians were featured on Dance On class series in 2017. They were also featured on the Sikh Foundation of Canada for the same. This video was even shared by Miss Pooja and Arjun Kapoor! Cheers to their viral moment!
