Ishpreet Balbir is a multifaceted Indian artist known as a writer, storyteller, content creator & spoken word artist. According to IMDB, he has a background in writing for films like ‘Kaun? Who Did It?‘ released in 2021. Ishpreet’s storytelling often blends poetry with philosophical insights, reflecting his belief that he is “more of a philosopher than a poet.” This unique viewpoint enhances his performances and written works, including his latest piece, “Ishi Ki Khushi.“
Joining Ishpreet in this journey, Khushi (@chashmishkhushi) is a versatile Gujju comic creator. Usne chaar chand laga diye! Also, the series features an unexpected and huge cameo that makes it wholesome.
Hint: the ultimate rom-com hero that every girl looks for in her partner (ifykyk).
At the start of the series, Ishpreet and Khushi stroll out of a cinema, and Ishpreet says, “Movie achi thi na?” Khushi flashes a smile and says, “It was good! The location, costumes, and music were phenomenal.” But her face? Total meh. While Ishpreet’s buzzing with excitement over the movie, poor Khushi doesn’t want to burst his bubble. So instead of breaking his heart, she gives him a little hint that it’s not just the movie she’s into, it’s him!
Strolling through Mumbai’s charming and bustling gallis, Ishpreet turns to Khushi with a playful smile and asks, “Why are we not taking a cab?” With a twinkle in her eye, Khushi replies, “Who would trade this serene for the rush? We might miss our chance at a little adventure!”
Ishpreet beams, “Plus, walking is not just good for your health; it’s perfect for soaking up the vibes, especially with a cute company like you!” (Rizz +9999) He claims “I told you it’s my lucky day!” “Oh, is it? Well, you can thank me!” Khushi teases and takes credit.
Walking hand in hand, they wandered to the iconic Asiatic Library, the charm of Mumbai. Out of nowhere, Khushi hit Ishpreet with a question that he didn’t see coming: “Tumne kabhi one night stand kiya hai?” He froze for a second before awkwardly answering, “Opportunities toh aayi thi, but I couldn’t get myself to do it.”
“Today’s dating scene is wild—people skip past “hi” and jump straight to “wanna come over?” Khushi said. But she isn’t about that life. “I like to talk, really get to know someone, spend time with them. That’s the best part of falling in love.”
Then, just when things seemed perfect, Khushi dropped a bomb: “Acha listen, I’m leaving Mumbai in a month.” And just like that, our hearts shattered too! What’s next for these two? Stay tuned!
In this episode, they head to the most calming & romantic spot a couple could visit, Marine Drive! But the heartbroken moment from earlier is still lingering (and yeah, no one’s really over it). Khushi sensed the awkward silence and softly asked, “Ish, are you okay?” Ishpreet, with a sarcastic smile, goes, “Arey, mein toh bahot khush hoon, yay.” Khushi knows the truth though.
She finally admits, “I know you like me, and I like you too,” but there’s a cloud of confusion. Things just got real, fast. “Long distance? Long distance na chale yaar!” she says with a heavy heart. As Ishpreet pours his feelings out, suddenly, her phone buzzes with a message: “Hope you’re joining in 30 days.” It got more intense…
Hands down to the epic locations in every episode, this one’s seaside with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link view. It kicks off with Khushi grabbing a Vada Pav from the OG Ashok Vada Pav in Dadar (Mumbaikars, unite!). She jokes, “Agar yeh nahi khaati, toh zindagi bhar regret reh jaata.” Ishpreet, in his signature style, says, “That’s a good line for our aakhri mulaqat.” Khushi, a little stunned, asks, “Tum airport nahi aaogey?” And Ishpreet, trying to keep it cool, replies, “Yeh airport goodbyes na, kaafi sad hote hai. So, why not make this moment a happy ending instead?”
With a mix of emotion and sass, Khushi says, “Never miss farewells, or you’ll regret it later.” As the mood shifts, and things get all senty, Ishpreet exclaims, “Kaash main tumhare liye ek Blue French Horn le aata!” (To all the How I Met Your Mother fans, we’re sobbing with you right now).
Remember that little sneak peek we gave you earlier? Well, it’s time to meet the man himself. Deep in the middle of a rom-com dilemma, Ishpreet turns to none other than the ultimate rom-com hero, Imran Khan! (Yep, you read that right. We can’t believe it either.) Imran drops in and says, “Tumne mera inbox flood kar diya yaar, 100 emails, and DMs—I had to come!”
Ishpreet pours out his & Khushi’s love saga, asking for one piece of advice. Imran, a bit surprised, asks, “Why me?” Ishpreet replies with a solid one-liner, “You made my entire generation believe in love. Love felt a little less scary every time we watched your movies. Your rom-coms were like the ultimate date night inspiration.“
After hearing the whole story, Imran breaks it down for Ishpreet, saying, “This generation’s all over social media & trust is harder to find.” But the episode leaves with a cliffhanger, “If you really want to know, go ask her about…”
As Ishpreet makes his way to Khushi’s place late at night, you can feel the tension in the air. He’s ready to lay it all on the table, heart wide open. And then he drops this gem: “Pyaar mein zidd ki jaati hai, but pyaar ke liye zidd nahi ki jaati.”
Even though the long distance between them seems like a hurdle, they tackle it with a playful spirit, laughing & joking about how love can conquer every mile. It’s like they’ve found their own little secret recipe for keeping the spark alive, no matter the distance!
The finale is here! The next day, Khushi sits down for a one-on-one with the legendary Imran Khan. With a playful smile, she kicks things off with, “Yeh happily ever after sach mein hota hai kya?” Imran chuckles and responds, “Do you think rats and meows never fought? Of course, they did! A few arguments and silent treatments are essential between all the ‘I love yous.’”
As the convo gets real, Ishpreet & Khushi can’t help but tease Imran, calling out his iconic “airport scene” from Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na as CLICHE! But jokes aside, as the series wraps up, we’re left with a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that in their quirky way, they all lived happily ever after!
As Ishi Ki Khushi comes to an end, we see that love is all about those small, joyful moments. Ishpreet and Khushi’s journey teaches us that happily ever afters comes with their share of ups and downs, but with a sprinkle of humour and a whole lot of heart, every challenge can lead to beautiful beginnings. Their story is just the beginning of a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and endless Ishi Ki Khushi!
