As India bids farewell to the Nightingale of the nation, the country mourns the death of the beloved singer. Her singing moved each soul and will continue to do so. She has recorded more than a thousand songs in almost 36 languages and was unstoppable, sans doubt.
As a mark of respect, the Indian Government directed two days of national mourning for the late Lata Didi. India’s Ministry of Home Affairs announced that the national flag will be flown at half-staff from Sunday through Monday.
Lakhs of people attended the funeral ceremony in Mumbai to catch one last glimpse of the maestro. From Bollywood actors, Indian politicians to various athletes, everyone is moved by this sudden demise. Social media was abuzz with the news and everyone assembled to pay tribute to the voice that redefined the Indian music industry.
