Since Elon Musk acquired the social media giant Twitter, it has been in the news for some or the other reason. On Thursday, Elon Musk made an announcement regarding Twitter on his personal handle. Musk himself will step down from the CEO position at Twitter and has appointed somebody else for the role.
On Thursday, Elon Musk Tweeted stating that he has found the new Chief Executive Office for Twitter. The new executive is said to be a woman who will be joining her office within 6 weeks from the date of the announcement. However, he did not mention the name of the lady in question.
Musk also mentioned that he will step down from the position of the CEO and will now play the role of a CTO- Chief Technology Officer- who will look into more technical aspects of the company including products, software and system operation.
Since acquiring Twitter in October for $44 billion, Elon Musk has made many decisions, some big and some very big ones with regard to the company. After firing the then-CEO of Twitter, Mr Parag Agarwal, Elon Musk in December began the hunt for a new Twitter CEO.
In December, he said that he would step down from the position of Chief Executive Officer once he find “someone who is foolish enough to take the job.” Since then there have been rumours about multiple people joining Twitter as its new CEO but all in vain. Until Elon Musk himself mentioned the new Lady Luck for Twitter.
Since the time Elon Musk tweeted, there has been a special focus on this piece of news. Many individuals, groups and media houses have speculated a list of people for this role.
The strongest backing including the one by The Wall Street Journal, have named Linda Yaccarino as the candidate for the post of the new CEO. Linda Yaccarino, the top executive at Comcast NBCUniversal, did not give a comment with regard to this.
If this is believed to be true, this will be a second jolt to NBCUniversal, after Jeff Shell, CEO, admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a woman at the company. However, the company claimed that Yaccarino is busy with her show and did not admit or deny these speculations.
Since the time he bought Twitter, Elon Musk and his tweets have always kept the company on its edge. From firing people on Twitter to calling himself the Chief Twit before acquiring the company, his Tweets have definitely been an anticipating point, especially for those who work for the company. In fact, even before buying the company, he tweeted about doing so.
Other than tweets about Twitter, Elon Musk is infamous for making some of the most bizarre tweets of all time.
Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter, many believe he has directed all his attention to the social media platform while ignoring his other ventures including Tesla and SpaceX.
When he made a poll on Twitter asking whether or not he should step down as the CEO of Twitter, 57.5% of users were in favour of him stepping down.
Elon Musk tweeted only 15 minutes before the closing of Wall Street and yet Tesla shares closed 2% higher and the shares increased 1.6% more in the after-hours trade.
We are not sure whether or not the people at Twitter and we, the Twitter users, will miss seeing him on the Executive Chair but we will definitely miss his out-of-nowhere tweets deciding the fate of the company. The 420 liberal CEO might be missed “high”ly by his team for different reasons.
