Facebook has presented its Content Distribution Guidelines to throw a light on how content is distributed on the Facebook platform.
Facebook has already made it clear what kind of content is removed from the platform or what is not allowed via its Community Standards. In the greater context the Content Distribution Guidelines make it clear what content on News Feed receives reduced distribution owing to it being problematic or of low quality.
Facebook says that in their efforts to provide more clarity and make their announcements even more accessible, it is bringing them together in one easy-to-navigate space in their Transparency Center.
“As we work to improve News Feed, we rely on overarching core values to guide that process. The changes we make, particularly ones focused on limiting the spread of problematic content, are based on extensive feedback from our global community and external experts.” says Facebook. Hence it has stated three principal reasons on why it might reduce the distribution of content. The following was stated by Facebook on their Newsroom:
Facebook will continue to update its Content Distribution Guidelines to provide information to people about how it defines and treats problematic or low-quality content that doesn’t otherwise violate Facebook’s Community Standards.
“Content Distribution Guidelines are already in effect today, some globally and others specific to certain locations. Our Publisher Guidelines continue to provide specific information relevant to creators interested in learning more about distribution on Facebook.” says Facebook. It will also continue to expand its Page Quality tab to help provide more transparency into policies that might be affecting a Page on the platform.
