Facebook Popped Up with New Updates for Transfer Your Information Tool

Facebook announced new updates for the Transfer Your Information (TYI) tool on August 9, 2021, to improve user experience. With more choice and control over data, data portability got much smoother. In simpler words, you can easily transfer a copy of your data from Facebook to other services. Isn’t that great news? The new update focuses on two new destinations and one new data type.

Well, Photobucket and Google Calendar are the new destinations, and Facebook Events is the new data type. As per Facebook Newsroom, the latest updates include:

  • A completely rebuilt experience that’s simpler and more intuitive — people can now more easily see what destinations and what data types are supported
  • Greater transparency around the status of each transfer, including making it easier to retry certain transfers
  • The ability to simultaneously start multiple data transfers for one destination
  • Filters that allow people to more precisely select the data they want to transfer”

Facebook is going to keep on popping up with new updates regarding better security and portability. Not only that, but the platform is also looking out for data types and destinations to be expanded. Government regulations are still important for ensuring “clearer rules about who is responsible for protecting that data as it is transferred to different services”, states Facebook Newsroom. The efforts to advance in the field of data portability are still being continued by Facebook by contributing to the Data Transfer Project, which is open-source. For more information, tap HERE!
