Highlighting the ‘Important part’ with YouTube’s new feature!

Are you bored of watching long videos? and often end up skipping half the video which sometimes leads to missing out on the ‘important part‘? Don’t worry, YouTube’s got you covered!

YouTube is launching a new feature that has helped users to identify the most popular part of a video they’ve been watching. The feature was previously accessible for YouTube premium as an experiment from YouTube.com/New. In addition, YouTube has now made it official that it will be available to all youtube users, both free premium, desktop, iOS, and Android platforms.

The company says it’s adding a graph according to the study of what people see and watch the most replayed part of a video – proving what is helpful for other users when watching long videos or for people who are not aware of timestamps or video chapters.

YouTube content creators often divide longer videos into segments or links via timestamps, the new graph aims to make it possible for users to scrub through any YouTube video to quickly find the most interesting parts. This feature could be really beneficial to help users understand the useful parts of a tutorial video, or watch the part with the most action — such as the most-watched footage from a gamer’s video. The video thumbnail that appears will also indicate when you’ve hit the segment that is the “Most replayed.”

Alongside this launch, YouTube is also rolling out support for video chapters, the segmenting tool first launched in May 2020, to smart TVs and gaming consoles. Chapters allow users to jump forward to a particular section of a video or easily rewatch that section. Since launching, YouTube has made it possible for chapters to be automatically generated and notes they’ve now been added to some 20 million videos to date. Another newly added feature called Single Loop will now allow users to put an individual video on endless repeat.

Also, in full-screen mode, a new panel will now appear to display information about the video — like the video description, video chapters, and comments. Users will be able to access quick action buttons here to like, dislike, comment, share or add a video to a playlist directly from full-screen mode.

The company is announcing the feature as part of a package of updates to work on slicing up longer videos into more manageable and accessible chunks.

How to access this feature?

Select the option from the same menu where you get the option to adjust the video quality, turn on captions, and more.

Looking forward to YouTube coming up with more amazing features!
