Instagram’s new monetization tool- ‘Gifts’!

Would you like to give something to your favorite content creator? But not sure how to? Instagram has a way for it. Instagram’s going to launch a new way for fans to connect with their creators.

According to reports, Instagram is exploring a new feature called Gifts that would help content producers. Creators will now be able to profit from reels thanks to the feature. The newest Instagram feature, according to rumors, is an internal prototype.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi was the first to spot the functionality after Instagram teased it in July. The function was then developed by Instagram under the moniker “content appreciation.” A toggle option that would allow viewers to “give a gift” to the creator of each reel, such as stars, charms, or mega-likes, can be seen in a screenshot posted by Paluzzi. Under the Gifts page in their preferences, content creators can also see if they qualify for Instagram Gifts.

If rolled out, Gifts won’t be Meta’s only tipping feature. In 2020, Instagram launched Badges, a feature that allows users to show support to creators during a live video. Badges can cost $0.99, $1.99 or $4.99. When you purchase a badge during a live video, a heart icon appears next to your name in the comments. With the possible addition of Gifts, Instagram would give creators a way to make money through both live streams and Reels, wrote TechCrunch.

It’s important to remember that, similar to any other internal function, it’s unclear whether or when Instagram plans to make Gifts available to consumers. It wouldn’t be unexpected if Instagram did decide to provide the tipping function for content creators, especially in light of the fact that other social media platforms already offer their own take on a tip jar.

While this feature will allow users to gift their creators, creators might also get a way to connect with the users. Content appreciation is definitely one way for creators to let them know the loyalty of their fans.
