The India Vs. Australia World Cup 2023 Finals that took place yesterday, November 19, 2023, were a lesson on how heartbreaking sports can be. The sentiments of 1.4 crore Indian cricket fans prove that cricket is way more than just a sport in our country, it’s almost a religion that everyone diligently believes in. Every Indian had the highest hopes that our Men In Blue would bring the Cup home but sadly things didn’t go our way despite giving it our very best. The Aussies played truly well and justified their victory.
After all, they are 5-time champions, you can’t take them lightly. Team India faced a tough batting pitch yesterday at the packed Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. And the tight Australian fielding along with Travis Head‘s stellar innings just added to our voes. However, not a single fan lost hope till the very end. Despite the loss and the tears shed, our boys showcased a spectacular game of cricket throughout the last 10 matches that we effortlessly won. And for that, they shall always be lauded and remembered.
It was gut-wrenching to watch Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma teary-eyed but what they’ve given the sport in the past few months and years is equivalent to the World Cup victory. Today, every cricket fan, player and spectator is in awe of King Kohli’s talent and achievements. We should be nothing less than proud of Team India’s performance during this championship. They do not deserve even an ounce of hate, there isn’t any player on the team who did not want this win so badly. Nobody likes to finish second, ever.
The Australian skipper Pat Cummins said in an interview, “There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a big crowd go silent.” And that he did. He silenced 1.32.000 spectators who were there to only cheer for Team India. When you can’t perform on the day when it matters the most, it sure is heartbreaking but if you are a true cricket fan, you will always Bleed Blue. Chin up, Team India. The boys definitely played well. We are proud of you, today, tomorrow and forever!
Here’s how the Internet reacted to a roller-coaster of a day in the history of World Cups:
Sara Tendulkar put up a post on X (formerly Twitter) highlighting Team India’s excellent achievements in this World Cup, denoting her and the country’s pride for these players.
It was heartwarming to see the fans at the stadium continue showering love and support on the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after the match.
A fan expressed his sadness on watching Team India lose but also appreciated the players through this sweet tribute. “DUKH. DARD. KASHT. PEEDA. We need to respect the team who gave their everything to get to the finals!! 🇮🇳💙 Proud of the team 🇮🇳,” he wrote.
Swiggy Instamart and The Scribbled Stories created this beautiful montage highlighting Team India’s key moment in this tournament. “Waiting for the classmate notebook page dedicated to the best team and the way they asserted dominance throughout the world cup. a proud fan🫀” their caption read.
The void of Thalla is felt for sure. We miss you, Dhoni.
In a rather shocking and upsetting instance for Indian cricket fans, Pat Cummins posted this picture of Mitchell Marsh sitting with his feet resting on the coveted World Cup trophy. As expected, he got criticised for this action which has been regarded as disrespectful.
Another fan visually represented the collective heartbreak of the Indian cricket team. While dejected, he wrote words of positivity in his caption. “Well played champs 👏 you fought till your last chance 💙 yes we’re disappointed but that doesn’t mean we’ll stop supporting you 😭 we’ll support you till our last breath 💗 You gave us a bag full of happiness for the last two months but it’s okay Champs 😔 it’s a part of game you guys really tried a lot 💗“
This post hits hard. It is definitely the worst case of ‘Monday Blues.’
Here’s another heartfelt tribute to our captain – the Hitman!
The hug we believe the whole country needs at the moment 🙁
This post by Rohan Joshi just sums it all up.
Lastly, this emotional “Best Fielder” medal ceremony being held for the last time by the Indian Cricket Team made us all emotional. King Kohli rightfully bagged it this time. This behind-the-scenes ceremony has been the highlight of these matches.
It was a tough day to endure for all Indian cricket fans but nevertheless, we know that the players will be back with a bang and we will be standing strong in support, like always!
