Hello again, YouTube fans! The most awaited YouTube FanFest 2023 (YTFF) finally took place yesterday, September 27 at NESCO, Goregaon, Mumbai. It was a madhouse as fans gathered in large numbers to witness their favourite YouTubers LIVE. Well, it’s not a surprise, given that exquisite lineup of creators. Who would want to miss this, right? For the fans, YouTube FanFest is more than just an event – it’s an emotion. To be able to stand next to the creators they have admired for years has got to be a surreal feeling.
The Social Nation team was at the fanfest. YTFF 2023 promised to be a whole new world of fun, music, dance, magic, and unlimited entertainment. It was that and much more! We witnessed the likes of Badshah, Ambika Nayak a.k.a Kayan, Rajakumari, Suhani Shah, Team Naach and many more kill it on stage. The event was hosted by the super hilarious Danish Sait and YouTube’s favourite girl Prajakta Koli a.k.a MostlySane. The lineup, the energy, the creators, the fans – everything about the fanfest was electrifying. NESCO was buzzing with adrenaline.
This year, YouTube is celebrating 15 years in India. Ishan John Chatterjee, Director of YouTube India, emphasised that digital video has always had the uncommon ability to break down literacy and geographical barriers.
“YouTube’s journey in the country, in many ways, mirrors India’s own digital transformation journey. 15 years in, YouTube has taken on many avatars as a place of discovery for trends moving the world and a reflection of a curious, connected, and vibrating India that has embraced video as its language,” he said.
As YouTube India ventures into its next phase, the integration of AI and continued commitment to empowering creators suggest an exciting trajectory for the platform’s growth and influence in the Indian digital landscape.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the YouTube FanFest 2023 – this was the icing on the cake. In his YouTube address, PM Modi told about 5,000 content creators who were listening to him that he is “no different” and is “just like them”. He considers himself a fellow YouTuber and has been observing how the YouTubers’ content impacts the people of our country. “Since 15 years, I have also been connected to the country and the world through a YouTube channel. I also have subscribers in decent numbers,” this statement by PM Modi received thunderous applause, owing to his 17.9 million subscribers on YouTube.
He said that he has thousands of videos on his channel, but the “most satisfying” for him has been when he spoke to students through YouTube on subjects like exam stress, expectation management, and productivity. During his five-minute address, he also asked YouTubers to inspire more people to be a part of national campaigns. Such is the impact of our YouTubers and creators. “Together, we can bring transformation in the lives of a vast population in our country,” the PM added.
He also gave them tips like “Consider putting a question at the end of each episode or provide action points to do something. People can do the activity and share it with you. This way, your popularity will also grow, and people will not just listen but also engage in doing something.” Concluding his address, the Prime Minister cheekily said, “Subscribe to my channel and hit the bell icon to receive all my updates.“
The fanfest had the most vivid and diverse lineup this year. The most favourite part of the night was watching our very own Prajakta hosting the YTFF 2023. She has been creating content on YouTube for 8 years now, that’s more than half the platform’s life in the country!
Kayan set the vibe for the night with her amazing DJing skills. Hers and Rajakumari‘s beautiful singing had us swaying in awe.
Mythpat, Fukra Insaan, and Triggered Insaan just owned the stage and entertained everyone with their banter. They were pleasantly surprised with the massive turnout of fans.
Awez Darbar and Nagma Mirajkar set the stage on fire with their super energetic dance medley. They are literally a powerhouse of talent.
Dhruv and Shyam a.k.a the Funcho boys had the audience in splits with their humour.
This magical night would have been incomplete without some literal magic. And who better than the epic mind reader Suhani Shah? She blew the audiences’ minds with her terrific skills.
The biggest YouTube stars of the country – Bhuvan Bam, Ashish Chanchlani, CarryMinati, and Tanmay Bhat joined the fanfest through a live stream. These creators are shining examples of how to build a career out of this video platform and grow into a success story.
No one does it better than Nicole and Sonal of Team Naach. Their dance performance gave us goosebumps and left us wanting for more. Both of them set the stage ablaze.
Anuv Jain and Harry Sandhu serenaded us with their soulful melodies and popular songs.
True to his name, Badshah ruled the fanfest stage. He got the whole crowd tapping their feet and grooving to his beats.
Kenny Sebastian and Janice Sequeira hosted a segment of the show as well. Siddharth Batra and Komal Pandey were spotted too. Creators like Ujjwal (Techno Gamerz), Neetu Bisht, ShortsBreak, Lakhan, and many more made an appearance as well.
The night ended with all the creators coming under one roof and just vibing together – what an energy.
It is something else to witness the YouTube FanFest 2023 LIVE. So please make sure you attend the event the next time it takes place!
