The boiling-hot “Killer Souptrailer has got us all drooling! Now that’s what you call a trailer. The brilliance of Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma makes for a killer recipe. They seem ready to serve us viewers a series which has the perfect ingredients for a nail-biting, unpredictable, rollercoaster ride. The official trailer of the crime thriller series dropped on Wednesday, January 3, and it promises to be all of the above and more.

Released on Konkona’s birthday, the Abhishek Chaubey-directed Netflix series’ trailer highlights Manoj Bajpayee’s double act and Konkona’s menacing performance. The 2-minute-and-12-second long trailer is brilliantly cut where every scene keeps you guessing. A news article served as the loose inspiration for the series, which follows the fictitious town of Mainjur and its amateur heroes, villains, and everyone in between through a series of fast-paced events.

Set in the picturesque southern Indian town of Mainjur, this whimsical story booms while the ethereal melody of the classic song ‘Tu Hi Re‘ floats through the air. Killer Soup is an offbeat crime series touted as appealing to all tastes with its delicious mix of mystery and black comedy. Abhishek Chaubey created, directed, and co-wrote the Netflix series along with Honey Trehan and Chetana Kowshik. Apart from the powerful lead pair, the show features actors like Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, Lal, Anbuthasan, Anula Navlekar, and Kani Kusruti.

The Soup-y Plot

The trailer begins with Umesh (Manoj Bajpayee) and Swathi (Konkana Sen Sharma) where she is holding a bottle of acid, and they’re discussing a sinister plan for the murder of her husband, also played by Manoj Bajpayee. Swathi is an aspiring chef who only wants everyone to taste her paya soup. Due to a chain reaction of unfortunate events and hurried denials of responsibility, she and her lover find themselves in a sticky situation.

From hinting at a love story to turning them into murderers and then a cat-and-mouse chase, Killer Soup has all the elements that can be savoured. Suspense is the secret ingredient. Known for the Ishqiya series, Udta Punjab, and Sonchiriya, Abhishek Chaubey aims to startle viewers while also allowing them to chuckle at a crime thriller that mixes comedy and eccentricity.

Internet Reacts

As soon as the trailer was out, several netizens pointed out that this Netflix series is the perfect start to 2024. A Manoj Bajpayee fan wrote, “Manoj Sir is an example of absolute perfection in versatility in acting.” Another netizen wrote, “Looks like Manoj Bajpayee and Konkona Sensharma are in next level of showing “Killer” acting and expressions.

A Konkona superfan reacted saying, “If konkona is IN , I’m IN . No need for the trailer tbh.” Another user lauded the Director stating, “#AbhishekChaubey is director with fresh raw breeze in Hindi cinema. Fantastically mixes crime drama comedy and action.
