Lisa From Blackpink To Feature In The White Lotus Season 3

For those of you who have watched the last season of the Emmy-winning, widely acclaimed HBO show “The White Lotus“, you know what happened at the end. And if you still (somehow) haven’t seen it, there’s a spoiler alert incoming. So either go watch the show and come back here or read further at your own risk!

Our beloved Tanya McQuoid (played by Jennifer Coolidge) fell to her death after being hunted by a group of gay men looking to inherit her fortune in The White Lotus season 2. When she died, many wondered who would fill the Tanya-shaped hole in the show’s third season. When Variety announced Blackpink‘s Lisa as a new addition to the cast, we couldn’t help but wonder if she would be the one to fill the void left by Coolidge.

After showing her singing prowess, Lisa from Blackpink is set to make her acting debut in the third season of the acclaimed US television series. This will make her the second member of the renowned K-pop girl group to star in an HBO show, after Jennie Kim’s appearance in Sam Levinson’s controversial drama The Idol last year.

The White Lotus S03

Lisa will be credited under her birth name, Lalisa Manobal in the upcoming season of the show. Details of Lisa’s role remain undisclosed, as with all castings and the plot for the third season. But what we do know is that the new season will commence filming this month in and around Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand.

HBO has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support the filming and promotion of the third installment. The show will again revolve around a fresh set of guests at the White Lotus resort property. “Unforgettable experiences are in the making at #TheWhiteLotus. We are eager to welcome new guests to our resort in Thailand” read the caption of the new post on the show’s official Instagram page.

Due to the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year, The White Lotus season three is set to premiere in 2025, but the show’s creator, Mike White believes that it’s worth the wait: “It’s going to be longer, bigger and crazier.” Mike will continue to serve as the director and executive produce along with David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

The Ensemble

The expansive ensemble cast already includes Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Tayme Thapthimthong, Christian Friedel, Julian Kostov, Morgana O’Reilly, Lek Patravadi, and Shalini Peiris. Carrie Coon, Scott Glenn, Francesca Corney, Nicholas Duvernay, Arnas Fedaravičius, Natasha Rothwell, Walton Goggins, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola are also a part of the show’s cast.

Star Girl Lisa

Lalisa Manobal, who recently established her own management company named Lloud Co., has broken several individual records herself. With the release of her solo album “Lalisa” in 2021, she was the first female artist to sell 736,999 copies in the first week in South Korea.

Both her singles, “Lalisa” and “Money” from the album, charted in the top 10 of the Billboard Global 200, the latter becoming the longest-charting song by a female K-pop soloist on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and U.K. Singles Chart.

She broke three Guinness World Records in 2023 as the Most Instagram followers for a K-pop artist and the first solo K-pop winner at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

“The White Lotus” proved to be an immediate hit for HBO when it debuted in 2021. The first season, set in Hawaii, received 20 Emmy nominations and 10 wins, including best limited or anthology series. The second season was located in Sicily. It earned 23 Emmy nominations and ultimately won five awards. We are eagerly waiting for more updates on the show’s new season.
