LIVA Miss Diva (Miss Universe) 2021 finally started reforming by being more inclusive. The crown now represents beyond the binary with the acceptance of the participation from trans women! Well, if that isn’t great news then I don’t know what is! The fashion and beauty industry is finally shedding the shell of perfect standards. It’s time for the transwomen to shine!

Miss Universe 2020 (3rd Runner – up) Adline Castelino, LIVA Miss Diva Supranational 2020 Aavriti Choudhary, and LIVA Miss Diva 2020 (Runner up) Neha Jaiswal creatively expressed their support for extending the criteria towards trans women. They painted their face with the colour of the transgender pride flag, i.e, light blue, pink, and white. It was designed by American transwoman Monica Helms in 1999.

Akkai Padmashali is an Indian transgender activist, motivational speaker, and singer. For her work in activism, she has received the Rajyotsava Prashasti, the second-highest civilian honor of the state of Karnataka, and an honorary doctorate from the Indian Virtual University for Peace and Education.
Gauri Sawant is a transgender activist from Mumbai, India. She is the director of Sakhi Char Chowghi that helps transgender people and people with HIV/AIDS. She was featured in an advertisement by Vicks. She was made the goodwill ambassador of the Election Commission in Maharashtra.
Manabi Bandyopadhyay is India’s first openly transgender college principal. Her career began in 2015 at the Krishnagar Women’s College in Nadia district, West Bengal. Also, she runs India’s first transgender Magazine, Abomanob which is now an annual magazine running for more than 20 years.
Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is a transgender rights activist, Bollywood actress, Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and motivational speaker. She is also the Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Kinnar Akhara. She is the first transgender person to represent Asia Pacific in the UN in 2008. She was a contestant on the popular reality show Bigg Boss in 2005. Her efforts helped the first transgender team to scale a Himalayan peak (Friendship peak) in 2020.
Kalki Subramaniam is a transgender rights activist, artist, actress, writer, inspirational speaker, and entrepreneur from Tamil Nadu, India. She’s also the founder of the Sahodari Foundation, Trans Hearts Art Project, and The Redwall Project.
K Prithika Yashini is the first trans woman to be a police officer in India. She became the first trans woman sub-inspector in Tamil Nadu, India.
