On June 6, 2021, Marvel Studios released the latest trailer of ‘Loki’ revealing the God of Mischief to be fluid. The episodes of Season 1 went to air on June 9, 2021, on Disney+ Hotstar.
You must have noticed that Loki’s sex is listed as “FLUID”, which confirms the speculations and theories that everyone had regarding his shape-shifting abilities. Loki is gender-fluid. Michael Waldron, the head writer of ‘Loki’ further affirms it through Inverse saying, “I know how many people identify with Loki in particular and are eager for that representation, especially with this character.” Even Tom Hiddleston, the actor who played the character of Loki, stated to Inverse, “It’s always been there in the comics for some time and in the history of the character for hundreds, if not thousands of years.”

Kate Herron, the director of ‘Loki’ verifies with Insider, “He’s gender fluid in the Norse mythology and the comics and it felt like an important thing to, as you say, make sure it’s canon.” If you are not sure about what’s ‘gender-fluid’, let me break it down for you. As per Merriam-Webster, gender-fluid is “of, relating to, or being a person whose gender identity is not fixed.” Chris Edwards’ statement from Adweek on June 2, 2015, is added in the dictionary, “There are also people who identify as “gender fluid,” a mix of both genders, and may feel more male on some days and more female on others.”
Here’s Hiddleston addressing Loki’s gender-fluidity:
