Ever dreamt of swapping your 9-to-5 job for a glamorous runway life? Meet Sahil Singh, the Mumbai man who turned his dream into reality. From delivering food on Swiggy in the city of dreams to paving his way as a professional model, Sahil’s journey is a beacon of hope for anyone chasing their passions.
Sahil’s rise wasn’t overnight. In a video, Sahil revealed that he started his journey as a Swiggy delivery agent, making between INR 18,000 and INR 22,000 a month. But the hustle didn’t stop there. Thereafter, he also worked at Burger King as a chef and at Mango Mart, doing whatever it took to support himself.
Sahil’s modeling dream began in 2009 when he saw a poster of a model. At the time, he was selling wallets on the roadside. Determined to break into the fashion industry, he spent years gathering knowledge and auditioning. “I did nearly 200 auditions,” he shares. After the long hustling period this year, his perseverance paid off when he was chosen by Streax to walk the ramp.
His caption says it all: “Delivery boy to sales executive to MODEL.”
The video has garnered 5.2 million views and thousands of comments yet, hyping him up on Instagram.
One of the users commented, “It’s commendable that you are willing to put in the hard work 🙌🏻. You will succeed at whatever you put your mind to ✌🏻.”
While the second user said, “Bro stopped serving from restaurants and started serving looks as a model,” which was extremely savage.
One of Sahil’s biggest challenges? His height. Being 5 feet 10 inches, he’s on the shorter side for models in India. But Sahil didn’t let that stop him. Even with Streax, he had to advocate for himself, agreeing to wear heels to meet their requirements. His story is a reminder that sometimes, you have to push through obstacles to make your mark.
Beyond owning the stage & walking the ramp, he is also dedicated to helping others to get there. On his Instagram, he shares tips on men’s grooming and styling. Recently, he started a series for newcomers to the modeling industry. His advice? Build a network with photographers, stylists, and designers. He suggests DMing or emailing industry professionals to stay on their radar.
For aspiring models, Sahil’s tip is clear: “Signing up with a modeling agency isn’t enough. You need to network with industry people. Building relationships in the fashion world can be your ticket to success.“
Sahil Singh’s journey from a delivery agent to a fashion model is a testament to the power of passion & perseverance. His story is proof that with determination, you can transform your dreams into reality. So, if you’re chasing your own dream, take a page from Sahil’s book: keep hustling, keep believing, and the runway could be yours.
