We often speak of talent and hard work in a complimentary manner. There are a few people who acquire this talent with hard work and there are also a few who are born with a particular talent and as they nurture this talent with their hard work, they shine brighter than the brightest star. We are talking about a child prodigy, Pooja Bishnoi, who has broken records and is shaking the world with her achievements at the mere age of 12. As striking as her achievements are, her 75 Hard Challenge on social media is a beacon of inspiration for the entire nation.
In the heart of Rajasthan, hidden in the shadows of the bustling city of Jodhpur, lies a place called Guda Bishnoiyan. Not many have heard of this serene village, but it has recently become a household name in India’s sports world, thanks to a remarkable young athlete named Pooja Bishnoi.
Pooja’s journey into the world of sports began at an astonishingly young age. By the age of 5, she had already developed impressive abs, proof of her early start, dedication and rigorous training regimen.
Pooja’s first push into competitive running came at the age of 6 when she completed a 10-kilometre marathon in an astounding 48 minutes. Her speed and determination were evident as she outperformed even older boys at various events, leaving spectators and fellow athletes in awe.
Pooja’s incredible journey was further fuelled by meetings with legends of Indian sports and entertainment. She counts Virat Kohli as her favourite cricketer, and a conversation with him was a significant moment in her life.
Meeting former cricket captain MS Dhoni was another memorable experience for Pooja. During an ad shoot, Dhoni invited her to his vanity van, offering words of wisdom and motivation.
Pooja also had the opportunity to meet Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, who graciously welcomed her and offered his support, at every point in her life.
Pooja’s remarkable journey has been guided by her ‘Mama‘ (maternal uncle) and coach, Sarwan Budiya. Sarwan’s dreams of becoming an international athlete were cut short by an injury. However, his passion for sports persisted, and he found a new calling in coaching.
His journey as a coach began when he stumbled upon an article about China’s success in sports, emphasising early investment in athletes and the development of strong foundations. Inspired by this approach, Sarwan returned to Jodhpur and saw potential in his young niece, Pooja. He took on odd jobs, including cleaning and sweeping, to support her budding athletic career.
Pooja’s training under Sarwan’s guidance started early. At just 5 years old, she began with gymnastics and core training, which led to her developing remarkable abs at a small age. Her day begins at 3 AM with training, followed by school and evening practice. Her relentless dedication and the expertise of her coach began to bear fruit when she completed a 10-kilometre marathon.
Pooja’s talent truly shone when, at the age of 8, she completed a 3-kilometre race in a mere 12.50 minutes, outperforming older boys in the process. It was this event that brought them in contact with the Virat Kohli Foundation, marking a turning point in their lives.
The Virat Kohli Foundation took note of Pooja’s incredible potential and offered her a scholarship, providing financial support for her studies, training, and diet. She currently attends a prestigious school in Jodhpur, and her journey towards becoming an Olympic champion is now backed by a strong support system.
Pooja Bishnoi’s incredible journey in itself is a push for all of us to work harder. However, she has gone the extra mile and uses her social media to inspire people. With 916K followers, Pooja Bishnoi is no less than a digital star and has a massive reach.
To utilise her fame optimally, Pooja has taken up the 75 Hard Challenge where she shares snippets from her routine as she rigorously trains to achieve her ultimate goal of winning a gold medal for India at the Olympics. Her unwavering dedication as she goes about her day with consistency and commitment is truly inspirational. A special shoutout to her picture of the day. That smile can motivate one to push mountains too.
We wish her luck for the 75 Hard Challenge and for her bright future as an athlete. We cannot wait to see her win all the glory and gold at various international platforms.
