As the name suggests, Prarthana Prasad is a short-haired Indian woman belonging to the queer community. She creates some super fun content on her Instagram and YouTube. From highlighting her journey of coming out as a lesbian in India to reacting to queer cinema to giving book recommendations, her channel is as entertaining as it is insightful. Prarthana works on creating gay content that she as a queer individual wants to see.
Shuddh Desi Gay – Yogi & Kabeer
This is India’s first Hinglish podcast following an openly gay couple Yogi and Kabeer. With Shuddh Desi Gay, they have opted for a storytelling format with life lessons and humour in equal measure. The podcast was launched on Spotify in 2021, with the first episode directly tackling the debate of monogamy within homosexuality.
Through their podcast, the couple wishes to cater to 3 different kinds of audiences – those who are closeted and need support in their journey, those out and proud, and those who are curious about gay relationships. Yogi and Kabeer also won Cosmo India “LGBTQ+ Voice of the year 2024” award.
