“Married to Bollywood, and in a relationship with comedy” is how Pulkit Kochar defines himself and his Instagram persona. He is one of the funniest content creators on social media who believes in spreading smiles. Pulkit is also known for his work in FilterCopy. He is even an active creator on Instagram making hilarious and intriguing reels which also feature his alter ego “Pookie“.
Pulkit Kochar has been creating a very interesting series of Reels called “Conspiracy Theories.” The Bollywood aficionado in him dissects every show and movie he watches to look for easter eggs or deeply seeded connections and universes. Watching his discoveries will make you go “Woah! How did we not notice this?” From exploring Ranbir Kapoor’s daddy issues across his movies to drawing parallels between the iconic K3G and Rocky aur Rani, he is the keenest observer of content.
The conspiracy nut in him recently got to work after watching Kho Gaye Hum Kahan on Netflix. Pulkit discovered EDU: Excel Dosti Universe, in collaboration with the video streaming giant. He noticed a pattern in Excel’s movies and shows – there’s always a group of three friends. Take Rock On, Dil Chahta Hai, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara or the newest Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.
Within this trio, the two of them end up fighting with each other while the third tries to resolve things between them. But by the end of the movie, they become besties again. After all, all’s well that ends well. In Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Siddhant Chaturvedi recreates Aamir Khan’s iconic ‘machli shot‘ from Dil Chahta Hai, except Siddhant does it with a ‘phuljhadi.’ Imaad’s therapist in the movie played the role of Saif’s girlfriend in Dil Chahta Hai.
In the opening scene of the movie, Imaad, played by Siddhant Chaturvedi, calls a band to perform on stage after his stand-up act. The band is called “Magik with a K” which was also the band’s name in Rock On. Kalki‘s character mentions that her ex was a man named Adil whom she dated for 6 years. And in Made In Heaven, she has an affair with Adil Khanna, played by Jim Sarbh.
The names of these Excel movies are also derived from the existing songs in the Excel movies. For example, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do‘ is a song from ZNMD, which became an independent movie. Rock On’s song ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara‘ was rephrased to become a movie title. ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan‘ also is a song in the movie Baar Baar Dekho.
Pulkit’s first content piece to go viral ever was his ‘FRIENDS theme song mashup with ZNMD‘ back in 2016. His work was noticed by Farhan Akhtar and Hrithik Roshan themselves who lauded the creation. Cut to now, where his ‘Conspiracy Theories’ are loved and appreciated by a vast audience – so much so that Netflix collaborated with him to create the latest one.
“Life full circle moment for me as the first content of me to go VIRAL was back in 2016 about ZNMD and today, I collaborated with Netflix for Excel Entertainment‘s new set of friends – Kho Gaye Hum Kahan ✨” wrote an elated Pulkit in his LinkedIn post. He further thanked Netflix’s Chandrima Das for being very supportive and Simran Basantani who has always been on his side.
His reel was showered with love from viewers who were left amazed by his research and accuracy. His math, always maths. A user commented, “You are so good every single time yaar this is so good” Another wrote, “bhai aapka knowledge 🤲🏻” A third user deemed him to be the Elvish Bhai of conspiracy theories. He said, “Pulkit Bhai ke aage koi conspiracy theory bana sakta hai kyaaaaaa????“
And we couldn’t agree more. Just like Farhan Akhtar said, “Keep ’em coming, Pulkit!“
