Age is just a number. And Ricky Pond is proof. The Internet’s fav Dancing Dad has captured hearts with his perfect dance moves. Ricky’s children created a social media account for him as a joke. Little did they know their father would break the internet and would become a glorified dancer/influencer. Based in Washington, Pond is a father to four talented children – Roxane, Garret, Audrey, Dallin, and Emma Pond who are often seen in his videos too.
Like his youngest daughter said looking at one of his dance videos, his moves are “impressive for a man his age.” He picks up any and every dance routine so effortlessly and executes it with utmost sincerity. Known for his spontaneity and consistency in maintaining the dance reel trends streak on Instagram, Ricky Pond has rarely missed a trending beat. When he shakes his leg to popular English, Hindi, Tamil and regional songs, you can’t help but admire his talent.
Ricky Pond recently visited Mumbai in India with his son Dallin. From eating at the city’s renowned restaurants to collaborating with Indian creators and dancers, he had a blast here. Our team got to catch up with him on his dance content creation journey. Read on to know all about that fun chat!
One follower, one subscriber at a time. It’s a goal that we just put out there to keep us going and stay motivated. I don’t expect it to happen overnight. The way we played this whole game was without any particular plan, we just go out and make fun content and people are liking it.
There are a lot of content creators that I draw inspiration from or that I look to to see if they’re doing a certain song or if they’ve come up with a dance.
I honestly like the music a lot more than the dance. If a song is fun and it’s got a cool beat to it, then I enjoy the dance just as much as the song. A lot of times I almost pick the dances based on what the song is rather than the dance. If I don’t feel the dance, if I struggle with the song it’s hard to make it look natural for me. So, I make sure that I like the song because then you’re gonna see it in my face. You’re gonna see it in my movements in my body.
I would be honoured. It would be I think it’s awesome. I’m glad that people like my stuff that much, that they would put that out there, right? It’s kind of cool, you know? What greater compliment could somebody give you than say, “hey, you know, you should be a citizen of our country.“
The people, the connections, the vibes that they give – they’re very supportive. And that’s what I enjoy about India, they’re very accepting of people who not only embrace their culture but even just acknowledge their songs.
We also played a challenge game with him wherein we showed him a few music videos for him and he had to guess and perform its hook steps. The twist here was that the videos would be played without audio so Ricky had to figure out the song and its steps. Dallin joined too, the father-son duo was such a sport and they managed to get all of them right!
It was so amazing to get candid with the Internet’s Dancing Dad, Ricky Pond. We absolutely love his dance reels and are perpetually in awe of his skills even at this age! Keep dancing and spreading that love 🙂
