Snehil Dixit Mehra: From Small Screen to Big Responsibilities in Heeramandi

Snehil Dixit Mehra AKA BcAunty is a name well-known in the creator industry. Her humorous observations along with her seamless dialogue delivery make her a favourite among both young and old. However, the hilarious creator has donned a new hat as an Additional Director on the much-talked-about show, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar along with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The Bansali Craze

Growing up, Snehil led an ordinary life like most of us far from the entertainment industry. She moved from Bhopal to Kota, Rajasthan, where she was preparing for the prestigious IIT entrance exams. However, a pivotal moment came in 2002 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas was released. The grandeur and meticulous storytelling of the film captivated Snehil, leaving a lasting impression that would steer her career towards the entertainment industry.

Transition to Content Creation & Acting

Snehil Dixit Mehra’s initial foray into the entertainment industry was as a content creator and actress. She gained for her film reviews from the perspective of an aunty that was extremely funny and went viral. As an actor, she gained recognition for her roles in Apharan (2018) and Bebaakee (2020). Her on-screen presence and creative input quickly established her as a versatile talent in the Indian entertainment landscape.

Role as Additional Director in Heeramandi

Snehil Dixit Mehra admired Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s work and her admiration came full circle when she joined the team of Heeramandi as an additional director. This Netflix series, based on the courtesans of Lahore and the life of the red-light district in undivided India, is Bhansali’s streaming debut and a significant project in Indian entertainment. As an additional director, Snehil played a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of the series.

In a mammoth project like Heeramandi, the responsibilities are vast and multifaceted. Snehil worked on smaller parts of episodes, often managing parallel units under Bhansali’s supervision. This role required her to be spontaneous and adaptable, filling in gaps while maintaining the director’s vision. Her television background provided her with the necessary skills to thrive in such a demanding environment.

While the job of an Additional Director is multifaceted, she also handled a large cast, including stalwarts like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and Farida Jalal. The set of Heeramandi was often bustling with hundreds of people, and creating the grand visuals that required meticulous planning and execution.

Future Projects and Aspirations

With the success and experience gained from Heeramandi, Snehil Dixit Mehra is poised for future endeavours in both content creation and direction. Snehil Dixit is currently bringing her talent to the forefront with Television shows such as Madness Machayenge airing on Sony TV and Ranneeti streaming on Jio Cinemas. She will also be seen on the big screen in Journey, that is directed by Anil Sharma.
