Takeshi’s Castle will soon stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Fun! Takeshi’s Castle is an Amazon original series based on the original show that first aired in 1986. The show began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on 21st April 2023 in Japan and is scheduled to stream in more than 240 countries worldwide! It is set to be the biggest relaunch of the show in history.
According to these reports, the reboot will be accessible in most Amazon Prime service areas, carrying a new name – ‘Fukkatsu! Fuun! Takeshi-jo’, which translates to ‘Return of Takeshi’s Castle,’ as mentioned in a report on DNA. Fans can look forward to experiencing the thrill of the show once again, albeit in a new avatar, bringing back cherished memories from the past.
The new Takeshi’s Castle Project has been filmed at the Midoriyama Studio in Tokyo, just like the original version. The 2022 edition has been enhanced with new features, and a range of challenging games has been created on an expansive site covering approximately 20,000 square metres.
Over 300 participants, selected from a pool of over 1,000 applicants, will take on the challenge of conquering the diverse and tricky games set up for the show.
The Twitter handle of Amazon UK shared the news on the microblogging platform. In the tweet, they wrote, “All-new Takeshi’s Castle is returning to @primevideouk, narrated by Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis! Tune in on August 30th for laughs, falls, and one epic TV nostalgia trip.”
On July 20, Amazon Prime Video announced that this summer would provide a brand-new version of Takeshi’s Castle. Two British comedians, Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis, will provide voiceovers for the UK version as reported by RadioTimes.com. They also shared that the show will be called Romesh and Tom Take Takeshi’s Castle. Takeshi’s Castle will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland On August 30, 2023. This new series will be featured in eight parts.
The original Takeshi’s Castle was known for its inventive and comical physical challenges, where a hundred contestants had to tackle wacky obstacles amidst giant, whimsical set pieces. Some of the memorable challenges included You Can’t Continue on an Empty Stomach, Wall to Freedom Becomes Far, Barrier of the Border, and Dragon God’s Pond.

The beloved Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle garnered immense popularity among the Indian audience during its television run in the early 2000s. At that time, the show was dubbed in Hindi by Jaaved Jaaferi. For the kids growing up in the 90s, Jaaved Jaaferi’s version of the show became a weekend essential, a must-watch.
