Why Is ‘The Trial; Starring Kajol Ruling Social Media Ahead Of its release?

The rise of OTT platforms has transformed the way we consume and engage with television shows. In recent years, it has become increasingly common for shows on OTT to trend even before their official release. The one show that has been doing rounds on the internet is the upcoming show The Trial, starring Kajol, which will also be her full-fledged entry into the OTT series world after Lust Stories 2. All the details of The Trial

The Trial will stream on Disney + Hotstar from 14th July 2023. This Hotstar Special has Kajol Devgan in the lead role. Going by trailer, Jisshu Sengupta, Sheeba Chaddha, Kubbra Sait, Alyy Khan, and Gaurav Pandey are also seen in important roles. 

The Trial is a remake of the popular American television drama series, The Good Wife, that had Julianna Margulies play the lead role. The courtroom drama garnered a lot of attention and love and continued from 2009 to 2016.

A series of first

Kajol is known to be a phenomenal actor who has a wide range of work to her name. From the chirpy lover to the powerful mother, there is no character in which Kajol does not fit. This time, she expands her horizon by essaying the role of a lawyer, who makes a comeback to the courtroom after a long gap, to fight one of the toughest trials of her life. 

The Trial also marks Kajol’s debut into the OTT universe, portraying the lead role in a series. Before, the show, Kajol will also be seen in Lust Stories 2, that is will stream on Netflix from 29th June. 

The Trial

Through Noyonika, Kajol is all set to play the role of a resilient and determined Indian woman who finds herself in a similar situation as Alicia Florrick, the character from the original series. She will portray a lawyer who returns to her career after her husband’s involvement in a high-profile scandal, navigating the complexities of the legal world while also dealing with societal expectations and cultural nuances.

The Trial will explore the various legal and political issues, including courtroom battles, political corruption, ethical dilemmas, and the complexities of marriage and relationships. Through its compelling storytelling, complex characters, and intelligent portrayal of the legal system, the show seems like a hit.
