In a surprising move, Twitter, the popular social media platform, has announced the implementation of a daily tweet viewing limit for its users. Effective immediately, users will now face a restriction on the number of tweets they can view within a 24-hour period. The new decision was communicated by Elon Musk himself after a large number of Twitter users raised concerns with regard to the social media application. Not only Twitter but TweetDesk interface has also been in trouble since the announcement.
To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

– Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
– Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
– New unverified accounts to 300/day
Twitter Restrictions
On 1st July, 2023, approximately 7,300 people raised concerns over the working of the social media platform. Soon after the problem was addressed by Elon Musk by limiting the number of Tweet viewing to address the problem of ‘Data scrapping’ and ‘System Manipulation.’ Initially, the restrictions were laid at 6000 posts for verified accounts and 600 and 300 posts based on the age of the account. The restriction is now increased to 10K, 1K and 500 tweet views in a day.

TweetDeck Failing
Not only Twitter but TweetDeck also has faced severe issues since the announcement. Many organisations and institutions have raised concerns over an empty interface that would otherwise be filled with tweets. TweetDeck is a platform used by services and brands that use the platform to grow their brand and news agencies also use it as a medium of reporting.

The decision to introduce this new feature comes as Twitter aims to promote a more mindful usage of the platform. With the exponential growth in tweet volumes and the increasing time users spend scrolling through their feeds, Twitter’s management believes that setting a limit on daily tweet viewing will disallow ‘Data scraping” hinting at the AI tools that use Twitter to train the language tool.
Previous Breakdowns
Since Elon Musk has taken over the social media giant, it has been facing severe issues. First, the company faced severe layoffs, reducing the bench strength from 6000 employees to 1500 employees. In February, the platform was down for 90 minutes and the users could not post a Tweet. In March, people could not load images and click on links.
Under the new system, each Twitter user will be allowed to view a maximum of 1,000 tweets per day. Once this limit is reached, users will be unable to view additional tweets until the following day. This applies to tweets in their home feed, search results, and any other sections of the platform where tweets are displayed.
As the social media landscape continues to evolve, Twitter’s decision to introduce a daily tweet viewing limit may spark distance owing to the usage patterns. It remains to be seen how users will adapt to this new feature and whether it will have a positive impact on the overall Twitter experience or not. However, currently there has been a lot of confusion amongst the users vis-a-vis the social media platform.
