WhatsApp to get more secure and additional updates

WhatsApp is a secure messaging platform for all. Even with the major security that WhatsApp offers, scams happen. WhatsApp plans to increase its security by adding another layer of verification.

As per WABetainfo, WhatsApp is testing a double verification system. “Any successful attempt to log into our WhatsApp account from another device requires an additional verification code to confirm”.

When any WhatsApp user attempts to log in to the platform, he/she has to enter a 6-digit verification code. The report by WABetainfo revealed that when the first code is successfully entered, another 6-digit code must be entered to log in to WhatsApp. Users will get another message which will alert them about a login attempt. In case someone attempts to log into a user’s account, then they will immediately know and no one will be to access it unless they know the second verification code.

The feature will come in handy for those who fall prey to certain scams, which takeover WhatsApp accounts of users. The feature is still under development and there’s no expected timeline for its availability. However, when the feature is out, it is expected to be on both iOS and Android.

WhatsApp first announced they’re going to test the edit button so that the users can edit the text instead of deleting it. In another reveal, the application might allow the users to undo the message they sent. The app will show an ‘undo’ button at the bottom of the screen.

WhatsApp is also going to roll out an update that will allow users to rename the linked devices to business accounts. Notably, the update will be available to those business accounts that use the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS.

WhatsApp is also working on offering more features to WhatsApp Business accounts with WhatsApp premium subscription plans.

In another reveal, the application is now going to allow data sharing of up to 2 GB. WhatsApp announced the ability to send larger files back in March. Initially, the feature was tested in South America and is now rolling out to users in more regions. The new 2GB limit is being made available for both Android and iOS users. Now, users will be able to send images, videos, and documents of up to 2GB in size. Earlier, WhatsApp allowed up to 100MB file sizes to be shared via the messaging app.
