Today also happens to be World Mental Health Day. And keeping your body healthy is the key to mental peace. Mental and physical health go hand in hand. On today’s special occasion, the Social Nation team got to chat with Digvijay about everything related to health and fitness. From tips to insightful guidelines, he shared it all with us and now we shall take you through this exciting conversation as well!
“First of all, thank you. Along the way, I started focusing on experiences and I learned that I love fitness and nutrition so much so let me just pursue it as my career. Bachpan se I’ve seen my Dad do so much of physical activities since voh Army mein the. I’ve seen everyone around me indulge in sports and so many physical activities that I naturally got inclined towards it. That is how I started certifying and achieving all these things.”
“In the 3rd year of my college I realised that I should follow my passion because if I don’t do it now I’ll regret it later. I was fortunate enough to be able to take that decision. I told my parents and friends and everyone was pretty confident and happy. They were like ‘do whatever you want to do’ and it paid off because I loved it so much.”
“I think unlearning is something people need to focus on. Sabse toughest challenge hota hai aapke beliefs that you hold on to. So I think it’s very important to unlearn all the things which are wrong or something which won’t help you and then relearn. I think that is something that people need to understand. It’s a very small thing but unlearning is the best thing. Unlearning – Relearn.”
“I’ve been fortunate enough to train a lot of people. And the best part was that I’ve seen a 50-year-old do push-ups and squats for the first time. People who have never worked out, they started enjoying their workout. People who were not happy with the way they looked and how they felt about themselves after. These are the small small wins that I’ve seen in everyone’s life that makes me really happy. It’s just that you’ve to be consistent”
“Start small. Not to focus on big goals. Make those small goals and smash them, then move forward towards your bigger goals.”
“I think it’s listening to people around you and your self-doubt. People need to focus on the positives and not the negatives. Take one day at a time.”
“In lockdown, you had to put up whatever you were doing online to make more people aware. I thought that I have something which will add value to people’s lives, let me put it online and if people love it, I can have a great career here. So much exposure, great experiences, and meeting great people is what I love about my content creation journey.
Many a time, people are like ‘I don’t want to put myself online’ but, they don’t realise that there is so much potential out there. You can reach someone who is 1,000 or 10,000 kms away from you who can look at your content and be inspired or get in touch with you. ”
Can you bust some nutritional myths for us?
“That protein is just for muscle building. I think that’s not true. Protein is useful for so many important functions in your body – for hormones, for enzymes. It also keeps you fuller for longer and satiated.”
How do you keep up with the latest fitness trends?
“There’s something interesting in everything so I pick small small things from all these fitness trends and I apply it in my life. Be it 75 heart challenge or being consistent with one interesting or high-protein meal every day…”
What does a day in your life look like?
“I wake up in the morning and drink some warm water or herbal / chamomile / green tea. Then I do some Pranayam after I freshen up and take a shower. Thrice a week I also do an ice bath where I stay in for 7-10 minutes to keep things interesting. I love it. Apart from that I have a good high-protein breakfast -either eggs or paneer – and a vegetable juice which is usually amla, carrot and beetroot along with nuts.
Then I move towards either training clients or going to the gym. Once I’m back I check what’s on my agenda for the day – making videos and content. Post that, there’s an evening workout followed by chilling with friends and family, staying home, having dinner, reading something. Then stretching a little bit and a warm shower to calm me down. That’s how I end my day.”
Health, fitness, and nutrition together enhance our quality of life, enabling us to pursue our passions and goals with vigor and vitality. Digvijay left us with multiple helpful tips and guidance to go about this healthy journey which is extremely beneficial to us.
