The movie takes you on a journey, literally, when Piku Banerjee (Deepika Padukone) and her 70-year-old widowed father, Bhashkor (Amitabh Bachchan) travel from Delhi to Kolkata, driven by Rana (Irrfan Khan). The core of the story is Piku dealing with her father’s bowel issues. For those taking care of their elderly parents, this film hits where it hurts. 102 Not Out
Age is just a number and this comedy-drama film proves that. 102 Not Out showcases legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan playing a 102-year-old who wishes to break the “oldest man alive” record. Late Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor played his sad and grumpy 75-year-old son. Their chemistry and repartee makes for an entertaining experience. Uunchai
This one is a heartwarming tale of friendship and loss. Three friends (portrayed by Boman Irani, Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher along with Neena Gupta, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra) take a trek to the Everest Base Camp. A trek undertaken to fulfill their friend’s last wish turns out to be a personal, emotional and spiritual journey as they battle their physical limitations and discover the true meaning of freedom. The Intern
When 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (Robert de Niro) decides to become a senior intern at a fashion website, he forms an unlikely friendship with the website’s workaholic CEO, Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway). The wholesome movie showcases the different viewpoints of multi-generations working in the same place. It also gives the message that when it comes to learning something new, age is no bar. Tribhanga
Encompassing three generations, Tribhanga is an out-and-out family story. Nayantara (Tanvi Azmi) is an acclaimed writer while her daughter Anuradha (Kajol) is an actor-dancer and a single mother. Her daughter Masha (Mithila Palkar) is married, pregnant and wants a normal life. The three couldn’t be more different if they tried, but a tragedy brings the dysfunctional family together to confront their situation. You can watch Tribhanga on Netflix.
TVF Dadugiri
A short 5-episode series on YouTube, this story depicts the sweet bond between a grandfather (Sarat Saxena) and his grandson (Mayur More). 70-year-old ‘Dadu’ helps his beloved grandson ‘Giri‘ to escape troubles. They take on different kinds of explorations together making it a very wholesome and entertaining watch.
