Instagram is carrying forth its tradition of working on new features. As per latest reports, Instagram is now working on a new feature, called “Audio Rooms.”
The feature will allow users to create private rooms and host audio chats with their community. The concept of Audio Rooms is quite similar to Clubhouse and the recently launched Twitter Spaces which allow users to host, schedule audio spaces with 600 users.
Popular app developer Alessandro Paluzzi in his tweet mentioned: “In the latest version of #Instagram the mic icon and some references to this feature have been removed. Were they added too soon? In any case, I will still keep you updated on future developments”
He even shared what the Audio Rooms feature might look like when released.

In any case, I will still keep you updated on future developments 😇

From the images it can be inferred that the feature will have a separate dedicated option for it. Similar to spaces on Twitter and Reels on Instagram. So far the feature is a WIP (work-in-progress) and no information is known about its official rollout. However we can only hope that Instagram releases an update regarding it soon!
