Instagram Rolls Out New Profile Cards for Creators

Instagram is stepping up its game for creators with the rollout of new Profile Cards. These fresh features are designed to help creators showcase their work, connect with their audience more effectively, and stand out in a crowded digital space. These cards are designed to enhance profile visibility & showcase content in a new way, making your profile truly pop!

How Does It Work?

In the example shared by one of the users, these updated profile cards can be flipped digitally. One side features a QR code for easy connection, while the other provides a summary of the user’s profile.

Overall, the profile includes the user’s image, bio, profile category, and business links, offering a convenient snapshot of their Instagram handle. This format may help attract more connections within the app through a simple scan-and-follow process.

However, it remains uncertain how many users will utilize this feature, as Instagram introduced QR codes for profiles back in 2018, but awareness was quite low, resulting in limited usage.

Additionally, the design of QR codes has changed multiple times, and their placement within the app has varied, contributing to this issue. Despite these challenges, Instagram seems eager to promote QR codes again, having an attempt to introduce them for Broadcast Channels in June.

Will QR Codes Finally Drive Users To Scan & Connect?

Looking at the feature & its quirkiness, will QR codes finally gain popularity and encourage more users to scan and connect with profiles? While it may not revolutionize the platform, it does provide an appealing option for enhancing visibility and increasing content access.

Perhaps Instagram should consider providing physical copies of these profile cards for creators, similar to what they did with Threads profile cards for its first anniversary. While that idea could be costly, the focus for now remains on the digital IG profile cards.

Beyond New Profile Cards

Earlier this year, Instagram also launched a new feature that allows users to personalize their profiles by adding songs! This lets users showcase their favorite tracks, express their mood, or set the vibe for their profile. It’s a creative way to make profiles stand out and connect with followers with a melody, enhancing the overall experience.
