We are talking about none other than Sejal Kumar! Starting out as a blogger and YouTuber to evolving into a terrific content creator and podcaster, Sejal has beautifully added singing, songwriting, acting, and creative producing to her hat now.

From fashion hacks & inspo to a knack for storytelling through her ‘1MinDrama’ series to singing and performing her original tracks now, she has surely come a long way. After listening to ‘Destiny’, ‘Masoomiyan’, ‘Yakeen‘, and many more, we have been super excited about her latest drop ‘Intezaar.’ This heartfelt track delves into the emotions of long-distance love and relationships, capturing the mix of longing, anticipation, and resilience that comes with being apart from those we love.

‘Intezaar’

Sejal Kumar always keeps her followers updated on everything that’s happening in her life. From her travel vlogs to work events to amazing experiences, she shares it all on her social media. We even got adorable glimpses of her boyfriend Bharat Subramaniam from her recent Spain & US trips. They have been in a long-distance relationship as well. Drawing from her personal experiences, she conceptualised her latest original track ‘Intezaar.’

We had a chat with Sejal Kumar ahead of her music video release to uncover the world of ‘Intezaar’ and her musical journey. Read on:

Your new single ‘Intezaar‘ beautifully captures the emotions of a long-distance relationship. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this song? Is it based on your personal experiences?

Thank you! I met my producer ‘solo’ for our writing session for this song, we had no ideas that day and after chatting for 5 minutes we both realised we are in long-distance relationships and we can probably pick that as a topic! I’ve heard a lot of stories and songs about long distance being tough but I personally feel there’s something really nice about the hope and commitment of it! So that’s what I wrote the song about 🙂

Long-distance relationships come with their own set of challenges like loneliness, trust, longing, et al. How did you go about capturing these complex emotions in your lyrics and the music video?

The first verse captures those ‘6 days’ that a couple spends together (maybe halfway across the world) after months of not seeing each other! The chorus is all about that sweet hope and ‘intezaar‘ for that time to never end, and to be together every day. The second verse talks about their lives in sync in two different parts of the world capturing the everyday experience of LDRs!

How did you manage to visualise the emotions of ‘Intezaar?’

The music video shoot was super chill! I shot it vlog style on my trip to the US last month, capturing moments on my phone!

When writing a song as personal as ‘Intezaar,’ how do you balance drawing from your own experiences with making it relatable for your listeners?

I think when you go through something it instantly becomes relatable! While writing, we make it have some semblance of structure so the story is interesting for the audience 🙂

What advice would you give couples who are currently navigating a long-distance relationship? How can they make the wait and the distance a little easier?

Haha, I’m no expert honestly! One thing I feel is to get comfortable being by yourself, and work on yourself, your hobbies, work and life! So you choose the relationship out of love and not need.

From creating and producing content to music, you’ve transitioned beautifully into the world of songwriting and performing. What has your music journey been like so far for you? What can we expect next from Sejal?

Thank you!! Really appreciate it! It’s been very interesting, I’ve grown a lot as a writer and singer and spend a lot of time thinking of concepts, writing and growing! The songs I released this year are my new sound that I’ve developed after taking that time for myself. I have 2 more songs lined up and an EP in the works 🙂
