It’s A Big Moment For YouTuber Marques Brownlee To Be Featured At The Apple Event

The highly anticipated Apple event has been making waves for various reasons. Many Apple fanatics had been patiently waiting for the tech giant’s annual launch event and were quite excited about the new announcements. But for one individual, it was one of the most magical days. YouTuber Marques Brownlee was elated to see Apple CEO Tim Cook mention his review during the event’s opening session.

The September 12 Apple “Wonderlust” Event, which saw new releases from the tech giants, started off with their CEO recapping their year. Apple released the 15-inch MacBook Air back in June. To denote that this was a successful launch, Tim Cook showcased a couple of reviews of the laptop, one of which was by Marques Brownlee a.k.a MKBHD, who had foretold that it would be very successful.

About Marques Brownlee

Marques is an American YouTuber and professional ultimate frisbee player, best known for his technology-focused videos as well as his podcast Waveform. Vic Gundotra, a former senior vice president of Google, called Brownlee “the best technology reviewer on the planet right now“. At the 10th Shorty Awards in 2019, he was named “Creator of the Decade.” The former name of his YouTube channel is a concatenation of MKB (Brownlee’s initials) and HD (for high definition).

The Rise Of The Creators

Tech YouTubers such as MKBHD have grown to have such a huge following and a loyal audience. They have really taken off in recent years, with many reviewers becoming the go-to creators for buyers and enthusiasts to check out features and advice on purchasing new gadgets. With over 17.5 Million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Marques is one of the most popular creators on the platform to focus on technology.

Being the recipient of multiple Streamy Awards, his being featured at the Apple Event only goes to show the impact YouTubers and online content creators have on the industry. The fact that Tim Cook not only watched MKBHD’s review but also used it to showcase the company’s product’s success denotes how valued his honest opinions are. And what more can a creator ask for?

His Reaction

Marques Brownlee has reacted to his quote being featured at the Apple Event, calling the experience “inspiring.” When one of the largest tech companies’ CEO uses your review of the 15-inch MacBook Air as one of two quotes used in the introductory sections of the event, it is obviously going to be one of the most surreal moments you can experience.

The YouTuber had posted an initial reaction on X (formerly Twitter) talking about how “validating” the experience was. Sometime after the Apple show, he shared more thoughts about what this means for independent creators such as himself in a post on Instagram. Marques Brownlee wrote:

D*mn, what a moment. It was only maybe 6 or 7 years ago that independent content creators straight up didn’t get invited to these events. Now to be taken just as seriously as any other media and quoted by the CEO in the first few seconds of the biggest tech event of the year is… quite validating, of course.

Acknowledging how inspiring it was to see his name in the event, the YouTuber also added some cheeky banter about not going easy on upcoming reviews. He wrote, “Good looks, Tim (doesn’t mean I’m going to go easy on your new phones though).

He did a short review of the event on his social media platforms.

Marques gives a brief about most of the key highlights announced at the event like the iPhone 15 series, Apple Watches, the new features, and things potential buyers must note.

You’ll find the quote used by Tim Cook at the start of the Apple Event to praise the MacBook Air in this review by MKBHD of the laptop back in June, where he compares the 15-inch model with a Tesla Model Y.

Quite a huge feat that is for Marques Brownlee and the creator community as a whole! Onwards and upwards!
