It’s fashion week WEEK! Yes, the Lakmé Fashion Week has started in Mumbai and it’s all the fashion updates you need. From 12th to 16th October, the event will see different fashions from the country coming along on stage and light up faces, styles, and models.
FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week is India’s premier fashion and lifestyle event that curates experiences and redefines fashion for over 25 years. The event has established itself as the hub for new talent, sustainability, and the business of fashion with over 100 designers, businesses, and industry stakeholders interacting every season during the 5 days of showcases.
The week just got a grand opening yesterday with Anamika Khanna’s AK-OK label. The event saw the likes of celebrities and influencers for the show which was LIT. The Fountain of Joy at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex served as the venue for the opening presentation.
The prét line AK-OK by Anamika Khanna has consistently outperformed the chic factor and established trends every season. She stirred up the fashion world this season at the Lakmé Fashion Week opening presentation in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), debuting her eagerly anticipated menswear range in addition to her unique and highly sought-after womenswear line.
“Ak-Ok’s collection consists of white cotton, prints in silk, and handmade shiboris, with the peeping in of pieces of denim casually. Uneven hems, the use of soft fabric manipulations in chiffon, and embroidery in various forms make the collection almost intangible. The use of 3D floral shapes, fluidity in tailoring, contrasting with structure sometimes, appearances of yellows and reds, and the use of black, indigo and emerald, keeps the colour palette surprising. From draped dresses to pajama sets, the collection features innovative ways of draping with a splash of colours on fluid silhouettes.”, was converted through an Instagram video from the page of LFW.
Some of the looks from the show yesterday-
The presentation was an eye feast as Anamika Khanna’s incredibly trendy and thrilling inventiveness was seen through the range of clothing, which was set against the dancing Fountain of Joy and the foot-tapping music of DJ Kayan.
Anamika Khanna, Creative Director, AK-OK said, “I am elated to collaborate with the Fashion Design Council of India and Lakmé Fashion Week. My AK-OK story began at home and went on to travel the whimsical, yet relaxed road, making every journey its own, be it a draped dress, pyjama set, jacket, or the quintessentially timeless white kurta. The use of 3D floral shapes, fluidity in tailoring, contrasting with structure sometimes, uneven hems, use of soft fabric manipulations in chiffon, and embroidery in various forms, make this collection almost intangible. It’s an absolute dream to have presented the showcase at the Fountain of Joy at Jio World Centre. The Jio World Centre with its elegance and world-class infrastructure is changing the landscape of events held in India.”, wrote Free Press Journal.
