Witness the greatest collaboration between the two Indian megastars, A.R. Rahman and Ananya Birla. Both of them worked together to launch ‘Hindustani Way’, team India’s official cheer song for Tokyo Olympics 2020. The music video premiered on Ananya’s YouTube channel on July 14, 2021. It gained over 1 million views and 21K likes within 22 hours of its release.

A few hours later, it was released on the YouTube channel of Sports Authority of India. The man behind composing, arranging, and production was obviously A. R. Rahman. Ananya worked out the concept and vocals. The empowering and inspiring lyrics that you heard are the efforts of A. R. Rahman, Ananya Birla, Nirmika Singh, Madi Yanofsky, and Shishir Samant together. Roshni Vincent did the musical arrangement along with El Fé Choir who was responsible for the choral arrangement. Chris O’ Ryan a.k.a Tek mixed and produced the vocals at TZM Studios.
The mixing and mastering were done by Nakul Abhyankar. Danny Mamik was the director and Sahaan Hattangadi was the creative director. A. R. Rahman’s team consisted of Vivek Machetti, Nazeef Mohammed, Allan Fernandes, Myuran Ramachandran Abdul Haiyum, and Rajesh Bhatia. The video was conceptualised, directed, and produced by Antimatter Media Pvt. Ltd. Also, Once Upon A Film and First Ten Productions were the on-ground partners.
The official poster of the song was released on July 6, 2021. I’ve to admit looking at A. R. Rahman and Ananya Birla gave out such Indian supremacy vibes.
The teaser of ‘Hindustani Way’ was released on July 10, 2021. You can watch it here:
The official music video of the song showcases a family from 1996 to the present day cheering for Indian sports personalities across different Olympic seasons. It also includes previous footage of Olympic games held in Atlanta (1996), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008, 2008), London (2012), Rio (2016). The icing on the cake was featuring some exclusive training footage of this year’s contingent. Also, it was wonderful to watch the winning moments of India’s sports heroes like Leander Peas, Vijender Singh, Abhinav Bindra, Mary Kom, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, and so on.
Now, let’s have a look at some of the BTS and on-screen snaps and videos.
