Meta for Creators: Comment moderation, additions to Creator support & Safety School

The latest updates on Facebook highlight more options for creators to live chat support tests and moderate comments on their profiles. In addition to this, it will also go live with a webinar series on how to stay safe on Facebook.

Comment Moderation Controls

In its most recent blog, Facebook has announced adding more controls to help users operate the content communication and conversation flow on their profiles. It includes an option to ‘block a user’ and also new accounts they create and improve how users hide unwanted comments on their posts.

According to the blog, the hide option is available next to each comment and one can quickly hide unwanted comments by clicking on it. The hidden comments can be viewed in a single place by changing the comment filter view on the posts. The blog also mentions that in order to focus on keyword blocking, users can automatically hide comments with variations of words that use numbers, symbols, or different spellings.

Moreover, Facebook is testing Moderation Assist, which – similar to Admin Assist for Groups – makes it easy to set criteria to automatically moderate comments on your posts, reducing how much time is spent on comment moderation. You can select from a list of rules to automatically hide certain types of comments on your posts such as comments with links, images, and more.

For creators that use Facebook Live to broadcast to their audience, the platform is investing in additional comment moderation tools including profanity keyword blocking tools, suspending/banning controls, and stronger comment controls. It is also about to kick off a test for Facebook Live community moderation so creators can designate a specific viewer to moderate comments on their behalf.

Creator Support

In addition to providing solutions for comment control and moderation, Facebook is going big on making it a safe and efficient revenue-making platform for creators across the world. With new creative expression and monetization tools, Facebook considers it significant to provide support to creators in troubleshooting issues they face on the platform and in educating them on how to stay safe on Facebook.

For a starter, the teams have begun a test to provide support through live chat for English-speaking creators in the United States who do not already have an assigned relationship manager from Meta to help with questions they might have about Facebook or Instagram.

To simplify it further:

-Creators can access a dedicated creator support site when logged in through Facebook.

– Once there, they can chat live with a support agent for help on various issues ranging from the status of a pay-out to questions about a new feature like Reels.

After the initial testing, creators will receive an invitation on Facebook or Instagram to join the test and explore the new support experience.

In its first, Facebook will also offer live help for users locked out of their accounts. On the Facebook App specifically, it has started testing live chat help options for some English-speaking users globally, including creators, who’ve been locked out of their accounts. This first test focuses on those who cannot access their accounts due to unusual activity or whose accounts have been suspended due to a violation of Community Standards.

Safety School

The social media giant also plans to launch a pilot program on Facebook and Instagram called ‘Safety School’ – trust and safety-focused webinar where it will share some of the ways that Meta is working to keep its platforms safe and secure for creators.
