In 1968, the Government of India decided to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of India’s greatest minds. Since then, National Engineers’ Day is celebrated in India on September 15th each year. In the field of engineering, Sir Visvesvaraya was a pioneer who significantly influenced the growth of India’s infrastructure. He was instrumental in the development of dams, irrigation networks, and several other projects. In 1955, he received the Bharat Ratna for his outstanding contributions in the field of engineering science. National Engineers’ Day serves as a tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya’s legacy and acknowledges the contributions made by engineers to India’s growth and development.
National Engineers’ Day celebrates the vital role that engineers play in shaping India’s infrastructure, technology, and economy. It acknowledges their problem-solving skills, innovative ability, and dedication to improving society. This Day is an occasion to reflect on the challenges faced by the engineering community, such as sustainable development, clean energy, and technological innovation, and to inspire the next generation to address these challenges. It also creates an aspiration amongst young students to become engineers and encourages them to pursue this dynamic field.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings to all engineers today. He praised their innovative thinking, unwavering commitment, and their integral role in the nation’s advancement. He highlighted their contributions, which span from infrastructure projects to technological advancements, impacting various facets of our daily lives. He also spoke about the time he paid homage to Sir M. Visvesvaraya when he visited Chikkaballapura.

Sustainability For 2023
Each year, National Engineers’ Day has a specific theme related to the engineering field. This theme helps to focus on discussions and activities on specific engineering challenges and opportunities. The theme for this year is “Engineering for a Sustainable Future.” The need of the hour is to be as sustainable as possible towards the future. The solutions that we need for tomorrow will have to be created today, so it gives us enough time to make space for effective results.
Engineers have played and continue to play a key role in the future of sustainable development. Whether it is building new products or working on technologies that will innovate the future, engineers are instrumental in designing, architecting, and building the way products, goods and services are delivered and consumed. To boost the nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), engineers remain key contributors in the vast chain of modern production and consumption.

Niharika NM
Niharika is a social media celebrity in a true sense. The Bengaluru and Los Angeles-based Indian internet sensation is one of the most sought-after influencers and YouTubers. You will always spot her collaborating with a star or hosting a huge event. Armed with a computer science engineering degree from Bengaluru’s BMS College of Engineering and an MBA from Chapman University in California, Niharika had a job offer from Google. She turned down her dream job to pursue content creation as a full-time profession, and look how well that turned out!
Ashish Chanchlani
Ashish is one of the biggest creators and YouTubers in the industry currently. He is known for making comedy videos on his YouTube channel Ashish Chanchlani Vines, for which he has also won multiple awards. Before YouTube and content creation happened, Ashish was pursuing Civil Engineering. He then shifted focus to his channel and went on to learn acting. The rest is history. Ashish has been making appearances in various large-scale projects and collaborating with the biggest names in the industry.
Ranveer Allahbadia
Ranveer, popularly referred to as BeerBiceps, is known for a wide variety of content, ranging from entrepreneurship and financing to fashion, spirituality, and self-improvement. He has amassed a huge following in the last couple of years. Ranveer holds a B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication degree, but by the end of his degree, he knew he did not wish to continue with engineering. After donning various hats, he is now a successful social media entrepreneur, YouTuber, motivational speaker, leadership coach, and podcast host. His podcast, “The Ranveer Show” is one of India’s Top Podcast shows which has been graced by the who’s who from various industries.
Prashasti Singh
A comedian par excellence, Prashasti is a stand-up comic, writer, actor and improviser. She was one of the top three comics on Amazon Prime Video‘s hugely popular comedy reality show, Comicstaan. Her comic videos on Instagram and YouTube are wildly loved. Prashasti has only grown as an artist and has been a part of many huge projects from shows to movies. She studied Engineering in Electronics and Communication at the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology followed by a PGDM in Marketing Management from the coveted Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow. Post a few corporate gigs, Prashasti took up comedy full-time.
Gaurav Chaudhary
Gaurav Chaudhary, known professionally as Technical Guruji, is an Indian YouTuber based in the UAE. He is widely known for producing YouTube videos about technology in Hindi. He primarily posts about tech advice and product reviews. In 2020, he was on the Forbes India 30 under 30 list. Given his ardent passion for technology and gadgets, Gaurav moved to Dubai to pursue a degree in Microelectronics at BITS Pilani, Dubai. Post which his creator journey began, and he is now among the Top 10 tech creators in the country.
Dhruv Rathee
Dhruv Rathee is an Indian YouTuber, vlogger, and social media activist. Known for his YouTube videos on social, political, and environmental issues, Dhruv has an avid following and a loyal fanbase. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering followed by a master’s degree in Renewable Energy from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. An educational YouTuber focusing on critical social, political, and environmental issues facing India and the world, Dhruv has also worked with major media publications and platforms.
Manu Bisht
Manu Bisht is quite loved for her content on Instagram and her work as an actress. She recently starred in the well-acclaimed series Half CA on Amazon Mini TV. But before she pursued her true passion, Manu studied IT engineering. After completing her degree, she decided to make relatable videos on Instagram which took off and brought her into content creation. While also being an actor, Manu tries to keep her content natural, about everyday things in life, which is what her audience also aprreciates.
