It’s National Girlfriend Day today! And we’re diving deep into the heart of ‘public relationships‘ with none other than the charming Onella Rodrigues, famously known as @nutellaonella. Known for her insightful takes on love and companionship, Onella is here to share her wisdom and experiences of being in a healthy relationship. Take out your notepad as we decode the secrets of lasting love and discover what makes relationships truly special.
Onella Rodrigues is a well-known content creator with a significant following on social media platforms like Instagram and X. She is recognized for her engaging video content and travel blogging. With over considerable years of experience creating content, she is passionate about crafting visually appealing stories that captivate her audience.
She is loved for her vibrant personality and creative approach to sharing her experiences, particularly in travel & lifestyle vlogging, workout whereabouts, fashion ecstasy, and ‘Mommy Meals‘.
Onella and her long-time boyfriend Krishna Shamji are literally couple goals! Krishna is a multidisciplinary designer, podcaster (@littlelessstupid), and coder based in Bengaluru, India. The couple often shares glimpses of their love life on Instagram by creating content together (not jealous at all!) & ‘maintaining a healthy private relationship.’
We had a heart-to-heart with Onella on breaking down public relationships and mastering how to handle them like a pro. Read on to know more:
First things first, we asked them the most anticipated question of all time – how did they even meet despite having different backgrounds? Onella brimmed her excitement and said, “We met on a dating app! It’s kind of a long story but we met in person after a month of talking to each other and 2 cancelled flights. It felt like something out of a rom-com, where I took the leap of faith to go meet a stranger in a new city and he ended up being the man of my dreams 🥰👉🏼👈🏼“
I’m very impulsive and I posted about Krishna very early on in our relationship, I guess it was just 2 months! I love love!!! And I love posting about things that make me happy, and he was one of the biggest reasons I was happy so it felt very natural and I wasn’t nervous about it.
Next, we asked the most pragmatic question, “What are the biggest challenges of being in a public relationship as a content creator?” To which Onella replied, “Touch wood! I don’t feel like there is any, other than our parents seeing us PDA hahaha but me & Krishna are very comfortable with each other & are very self-assured individuals so the negative comments or judgment doesn’t affect us! 🧿”
Maintaining privacy in any relationship is essential, because ‘nazar 🧿 is a real thing’ especially when it comes to public figures. Onella said that Krishna believes it’s best to just be themselves and not act for the camera. He took his time to understand everything about the world of content.
For someone who wasn’t from this industry, Krishna came a long way in understanding the game & being so open & willing to play it. Onella says that he encourages her to do better and experiment with her content, and she loves these small things about him.
I’ve pushed him to create content of his own and it’s incredible to see him loving the process of it and giving me a run for my money. He always gives me the best feedback & has great taste in music so I steal a lot from his playlists.
We share the mere surface on social media, the relationship Krishna and I share is so much more deep and I don’t think I’d ever be able to capture it through the lens. Our relationship is very sorted, we communicate everything and don’t care about how other people perceive us. I’ve learned the hard way that there’s no point trying to be somebody else on camera, being authentic and truly yourself is what always works and we do the same for our content together.
We go on a date once a week mostly on weekends or if our schedules are really busy we make sure to make time for an activity together, even if it is as simple as cooking dinner together or having our meals together. It’s the mundane things, if you manage to make those things special you’ve succeeded.
Balancing through life and more, Onella pens down an appreciation note for Krishna saying:
“The thing I appreciate most is his passion & his drive to be better, as a partner and even in content! He bought an extra pillow on my second visit to his place cause I mentioned that I liked 2 pillows when I slept, I know it’s silly but that was him trying to be a better partner and give me the comfort I liked. Moreover, he has done multiple gestures like this and it just means so much to me.
When asked what she thinks about their future together, she said, “I envision a ring on my finger (ahem take the hint Krishna ahem). I plan to fully involve my audience when it happens, period!”
Goals, for real!!
The power couple, Onella and Krishna’s relationship is beyond adorable — every moment shared is a highlight. They’re totally experiencing a vibe that will last forever! This National Girlfriends Day, express your feelings to your partner and make her feel as important as she is to you!
