This breakthrough release highlights his raw talent and innovative style, marking a significant moment in Indian rap culture. Let’s discover the passion that makes Hanumankind (HMK) a unique presence in music.
Hailing from Kerala, Hanumankind has shaken up the rap scene and has placed India on the global hip-hop map with Kalmi. He first hit the scene with his debut EP, Kalari, where he effortlessly mashed up Indian vibes with modern hip-hop beats. His journey has been fueled by pure passion and a drive to break the mould and be unconventional.
From small gigs to rocking big festival stages, Hanumankind always brings the heat with his electric performances & deep lyrics. His latest banger “Big Dawgs” blew up online, winning him a dedicated fanbase that’s all about his fresh style. He has also teamed up with a bunch of artists along the way, making his mark in the music world. As he keeps levelling up, Hanumankind is all about staying true to his art, inspiring the masses with his story of hustle & authenticity.
In a conversation with Radio One International, Hanumankind explained the reason behind his stage name. “It is a name that came to be. It brought together two sides of something that I stand for. It’s one of those that stuck,” he shared.
With over 7.1 million views on YouTube and 7 million streams on Spotify since its release on July 9, a shorter reel introducing the ‘Big Dawgs’ video has garnered 4.7 million views on Instagram. It even blew up on TikTok with over 4 million views on a review video.
The video was shot in Malappuram at the Great Indian Maruty Circus. Talking about the insane location, the rapper said “They call it the Well of Death for a reason. You have to credit those who perform there every day because they risk their lives to keep people entertained. I was just there for a day, but I’m blessed they accepted me into their community and let me partake in something like this.”
The video was directed by Bijoy Shetty, a long-time collaborator of Hanumankind, who proposed the Well of Death as the filming location, aligning with their ethos of “no risk, no reward.” Further, HMK says, “This is something all of us have grown up watching, not just in India, but around the world too. We prepped ourselves, shot and released it, and now, here we are.”
The video garnered global acclaim and significant praise from his hip-hop heroes like Project Pat, Knox Hill, and Bun B. Moreover, well-known American YouTube streamer & social media influencer, iShowSpeed also reacted to the music video anticipating Hanumankind as the “Indian Jay-Z!”
In addition, the YouTube comments for Hanumankind’s latest release, ‘Big Dawgs,’ have attracted global attention to HMK. One user commented, “This hits harder than the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989🔥🔥,” while the second user stated, “This track hits harder than the new Union Budget💀.” Beyond all, a third user commented, “This clip should have been the Olympic Games opening ceremony.”
