Everyone appreciates a good murder mystery. Even if you dislike watching movies, murder mysteries keep you intrigued and involved. The guessing game of who the murderer is keeps the audience riveted until the very end.

In Bollywood, murder mysteries were a popular genre, but they aren’t as popular today. If you want to test your mental agility and become the next Sherlock Holmes, check out this list of the top Bollywood murder mysteries!

Ugly

Anurag Kashyap wrote, co-produced, and directed the 2013 Indian thriller film – Ugly. The story of struggling actor Rahul Varshney, whose daughter Kali, vanishes, and the subsequent events are told over the course of a week in the film Ugly.

Andhadhun

Andhadhun is the English title of the 2018 Indian Hindi-language black comedy crime thriller, which Sriram Raghavan also co-wrote and directed.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language mystery action thriller film.

Japanese take over Burma, a group of Chinese men from the GreenGang unloading opium in Calcutta but get ambushed, with their leader being brutally blinded by a mysterious figure.

Badla

Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu star in the 2019 mystery-thriller film Badla, also known as “Revenge“.

The plot revolves around an encounter between a lawyer and a businesswoman, the latter of whom insists that she is being falsely accused of killing her lover.

Talvar

Indian Hindi-language thriller drama film Talvar, which translates to “sword” and was released abroad as “Guilty,” was written by Gulzar.

The film, which Bhardwaj and Vineet Jain made, is based on a 2008 double murder case in Noida involving a teenage girl and the servant of her family.

Drishyam

Nishikant Kamat is the director of the 2015 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller movie Drishyam (transl. Visual). Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta are among the actors who appear in it.

Rahasya

Rahasya is a 2015 Indian murder mystery film which is directed by Manish Gupta. The film is inspired by the 2008 Noida double murder case, which was met with some criticism by Rajesh and Nupur Talwar.

Talaash: The Answer Lies Within

Talaash: The Answer Lies Within is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller film. Senior Police Inspector Surjan “Suri” Singh Shekhawat with his assistant Devrath Kulkarni begin an investigation.
